paul w
Drive shafts tend to make a clicking noise rather than a clunk,is the noise under acceleration? Could be suspension related/bushes,could be a loose battery, engine mount. All should be looked at,check the cv boots for splits if they're split then theres a good chance thats the prob. Nanglebadger
I had a similar prob a while back, tho one of my rear whell bearins is shot at the mo too, again an advisory from MOT, COULD it be that a wheel nut or two is loose?? this is wot happened to me, made clunky noise and turned out half the rear wheel nuts had come loose due to the wheel eatin into the paint on the rear drums.Sounds stupid i know but it would be an easy and cheap fix if thats all it was.Phil. Idrees
Has anyone has ne problems with their wheel bearings before?everytime i steer into or come out of a corner, my wheels make dodgy loud knockin noises. Its really annoyin. What do you guys think? When we bought the car new, the wheel wouldn't spin if you tried it with your hand when the car was jacked up.My dad thought the wheel bearings were gone, but its was jammed brakes, just thought i'd let you know But my cousins had to change the bearings on his GT recently, they were making some crazy arse noises! keirz
if its your driveshaft it will only make the noise while accelarating, i think! from my experience anyway. just pray it isnt drive shaft or toyota will def shaft you to the tune of £200 a side.
Idrees
but the scrappers wont shaft you £40 a side...luckily
starletno1fan
thanks for the feedback guys! A few months back i had a knockin noise aswell, and that turned out to be a couple of loose wheel nuts like phil said! but i checked that as soon as i heard it start kockin again but it wasnt that.neway I took it out for a spin tonight, and noticed that it only knocks when i accelerate when the wheel is turned to the right. So it doesnt knock when i turn left or when its out of gear.Hopefully i can get it checked out tomorrow, if my mechanic can book me in.
