The Toffinator
My sportif needs new front brakes, and when i took the pads out they were both the same, so went to a scrappys and on a starlet of the same year, but a five door version, the calipers were different and one of the pads was a different shape completely? like curved with longer arms? can anyone shed some light on this and which pads are best for my car.MODS: I know it should be in brake section, but im desperate for these! Thanks
Nanglebadger
i'd say possibly not if the pad is a much different shape.the earlier EP91s had different calipers to the later spec ones (1998 onwards) which had the same calipers as the glanzas.for the price of EBC or even blueprint oem replacement pads i wouldnt be fitting pre-used pads anyways man. why bother.Phil. The Toffinator
Mines a 96 yet the calipers look alot different to the 96 5door sportif at the scrappys, and i wasnt buying the pads just saw the caliper was different as was going to get the calipers! will the gt ones fit? like these?http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOYOTA-STARLET-GT-EP...8#ht_1569wt_905
Nanglebadger
ah i see.didnt know there were brake differences between the 3 and 5 doors, learn something new every day!the ones in that ebay link are the same as came on my 1998 EP91.Phil.
Dan507
why would you go to the scrappy for pads? you can get them for 15 quid, or am i missing the point?

Nanglebadger
i cant confirm that later spec calipers will fit a 96 man, I've never tried it myself.im sure it could be done, but hopefully someone on here who may have done it will see this thread.Phil.
The Toffinator
Thanks mate, im sure they look the same, only had mine off last week so i think there the right ones! the caliper itself can come away from that thin bar when you unbolt the bolts from the sliders if you get me? if thats right then them calipers should fit lol
Russleh
im sure thers only 2 sizes of brake anyway. either u have the smaller discs ( just measure em ) they wont fit glanza stuffs . or ya have the bigger ones which are the same. be careful as alot of companys will just sell as a brake kit for ep91 even tho there are different sizes
The Toffinator
Im not too sure either way, like i said the N/A of the same year as mine had completely different calipers, while these ones i have bought look exactly like mine? either way will they fit the mounts on my car? Thanks
Dean @RW-Developments
abit weired as far as i was aware theres 3 different brake setups for na's theres the early brakes then theres the later brakes like that was on my 97 sportif that were 238mm disc (not the same as glanza i dont think??) then the sr brakes were bigger and possibly the same as glanza/gt brakes at 254mmi fitted paseo brakes on my sportif that are apparently the same as gt brakes etc but when i fitted them i changed the front hubs and driveshafts as they have thicker shafts and the hubs had a different spline count...... so better when running the 4efteanyway sorry for the babble lolDean
