I have just spent silly money with race tech and built my engine so its forged and has a td04 setup and it seems rather noise on tick over when its cold when it gets hot it doesnt sound as bad till you rev it then it comes back its a ticking noise i have took the service bolt out the cams which another member advised me to do as that could of been the noise im just not to happy with the way it sounds heres some videos anyways.....

well i see a lot of starlets now days and its unreal the amount dont have the the cam gears tensioned . it will not because any harm as far as i can see but make them wild noisy at the top end . i think alot of guys that are carrying out the work have no idea there even tensioned any ways hears how to do it rite.

as u can see in the pix there is a hole in the inlet cam for a service bolt if u look close at a inlet cam gear u will see its spit in to 2 parts one side of this is sprung so it keeps the cams tight when the engine is runing.befor u remove the cam shaft caps fit the service bolt in to the inlet cam if u remove the cams with out puting a bolt in the service bolt hole u will need to turn one side of the cam gear (inlet cam) untill the holes line up so the bolt can be fitted in in place , once the cams are fitted back in place and caps fitted u remove the service bolt thats all there is to it.
