ollie ryan
right yesterday i hit a pot hole and its burst my shock and put a slight buckle in my alloy, also the car just doesnt feel like its running right, turbo seems to kick in abit late and just doesnt feel like it should do, i have been out of work for a few months now and im tottally skint and i mean skint! so i cant afford to repair this so is it worth selling the car? and i will not let it go for less then 4k as i spent thousands on it, or am i best of just breaking? but if then i get a phone call with some work then i wont have a car for a few weeks if i do break. have no idea what to do and just wish i had neer bothered to buy a starlet! Liam_D
Just keep it safe and sound on your drive mate, until you have funds to repair it! You'll regret selling up.
Taggy
If you managed to burst a shock you must have really whacked it, is it making full boost. Probably a leak caused by the whack, check that first. I wouldnt rush into selling your starlet I have noticed as of late there are alot of unsold starlets about at the moment, i have been looking for one and there seems to be loads of them, especially people who have modded them and are asking between 3-4k, from what i have seen hardly any of them are selling!Noticed also alot of people are losing their jobs too, tough times mate. Breaking i guess would be the only sure way to do it, but that takes months!right yesterday i hit a pot hole and its burst my shock and put a slight buckle in my alloy, also the car just doesnt feel like its running right, turbo seems to kick in abit late and just doesnt feel like it should do, i have been out of work for a few months now and im tottally skint and i mean skint! so i cant afford to repair this so is it worth selling the car? and i will not let it go for less then 4k as i spent thousands on it, or am i best of just breaking? but if then i get a phone call with some work then i wont have a car for a few weeks if i do break. have no idea what to do and just wish i had neer bothered to buy a starlet! ollie ryan
still got the hybrid but i looked at it earlier and there is oil on the turbo housingi live in surrey kt16
nastyrash 2003
will be coming down to brands hatch in just over a mounth if u can hang on i will com and sort it got a few turbos here. is thr blue smoke. and are u still loosing oil. i found a problem with the flexi turbo oil feeds.
ollie ryan
no blue smoke and the oil level is still at the max but there is defiantly an oil leakim going to get the timing checked this week because i think thats whats causing the turbo to kick in latethe car is just really laggy
nastyrash 2003
have u checked the waste gate port for cracks, and of course boost leaks. and how long u had this problem, the timing will cause your problem if out.
ollie ryan
had the probblem a whileit still hits 1bar of boost but i had to winde the actuator really far to get 1bar should i take the hybrid off and fit my old turbo then have the timing checked?
nastyrash 2003
the problem is if u wind in the actuator u will cause the turbo to increase its rpm this will cause turbo failiar. plus it might cause blade failiar, which might reach the engine. also u will find the intake charge increase in temp the fast the turbo spins as the turbo becames ineffiecent. yes check your waste gate for crack and your impeller for lost fins. also check the gate is nice and free and actuator does not leak.
ollie ryan
okay i will take the turbo off tomorrow and have a look, the actuator is pretty new so shouldnt have a problem with that
nastyrash 2003
let us know ollie wat u find, check for booste leaks with a squirty bottle full of washing up liquid. jack the front wheels off the ground and rev engine in thrid. this will put the engine under load and will not allow the engine to free rev which will allow booste presure to build better. and show up leaks better, take the wheels off for safety. ollie ryan
okay will do that, its only axle stands with no front wheels on at the moment anyway
