DavidAshton
I looked to have a oil leak in same place, its rear main crank seal £50 quid from toyota too! Whipped box and everything off dry as a bone inside, changed crank seal anyway as it cost me so much! It was my sump that was leaking. So change your sump seal first. ollie ryan
thats brillant cheersi was going to text you yesterday but i took my car to bits and got fedup so left it in bits and should probably put some stuff back on it tomorrowim thinking of doing the engine mounts aswell but dont no how hard they are to do
GT Phayer
best thing to do is re seal the sump to start with clean it all off and run it and if u still have a leak then takle the rear crank seal mate because i firstly just buned silicone around the sump and still had the leak so i changed the rear seal and it stopped. its easier to re seal the sump than do the crank seal so il start by doing that and take it step at a time hope this helps
ollie ryan
to do the sump do i literally just take the sump of clean it up and the use gasket sealer to re seal it?also how easy is the main crank seal to do?
GT Phayer
yer drop the sump make sure both surfaces are clean then put the new gasket on and can use selant to and then bolt it back up evenly and to do the main seal the box has to come out clutch and fly wheel mate

Hazzagray
Engine mounts are a piece off piss once the block is out! literally a couple of bolts and you are away! Not had the luxury of doing the gearbox yet, just need to connect mine up!
ollie ryan
so to do all the mounts i have to take the whole engine out? then i assume remove the box aswell to do the rear gearbox mount?sounds like a few days work lol
Hazzagray
Takes a couple of hours if thats all you need to do.Take the engine and jack it up to take the weight off the mounts. then just change em!I had the whole engine out when I did it, I think you can get away without doing that though. Would double check though!
ollie ryan
well if i have to do the crank seal aswell might aswell take the whole lot out then do it that way?
shorty
Just support tge weight of the engine and drop of the mounts and change em one at a time, they are fairly easy to swap tbh, and id start with the sump too, taking the fly off for the crank seal will be the hardest part! We had to use an airgun on the bolts as they ar tourqed up high and locktighted when installed so are a biach to get out
ollie ryan
Okay well I will donthe mounts then but just thought that my box crunches into second so may just leave the seal until I get another box
shorty
If the oil leak is bad you may want to consider a new clutch when you do the box and also clean the fly realy well, as oil will contaminate the friction pads on the cluch disc and effect the disc. just make sure you check it all over well. Thats only if it doesnt turn out to be the sump as that may well cure your issue anyhow
