siren676
Would a glanza front strut brace fit on the rear in an ep91?Im getting an ultra racing strut brace for the front and was thinking what to do with my old glanza one.If it wont fit how much modification would it need? e.g cutting or re-drillingI have access to a welder if it needs a little bit of changing. siren676
Damn. Could it be modified to fit?
Stulet-GTT
Take it off the front an try it on the back, that way you can see how it needs to be modded to fit...
templar2007
It will be easyer to just by a rear one
gtmuzz
I modified a standard front brace to fit the rear of my gt lol does the job just fine
siren676
Cool. so im not the only person to think of this.At least now i know it'll workCheers man
Asad
You'll just be ruining a front brace, keep it at the front and buy a rear one cheap ones on eBay if you have a look
siren676
I have already paid for the ultra racing front brace so I might just sell the Glanza one to fund a rear one.Should i go factory or aftermarket? I have checked and my car has the 3rd/bottom mount for the factory one.
Asad
yeah best way is to sell the original front one.....up to you the optional extra ones are around £100 but are usually incomplete i.e have the strut caps missing or the bottom plastic piece isn`t included all of which doesnt matter if your rear is stripped out? id just go aftermarket much easier and quicker! siren676
Rears not stripped out. (yet)Ill have a browse on ebay today and see what i can find.Is there any advantage to going 3 point or just 2 point?
ryan lang
because yours is an n/a the 3 point will be useless because theres only 2 points for the rear brace to attatch to and thats the top of the strutsi have this beauty, its adjustable so you can tighten it too, which imo is better than a fixed strut.http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Starlet-Cynos-Paseo-...=item2ea1cec688or theres this ultra racing 1http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Toyota-Star...sQ5fAccessories
siren676
Ive checked and im 99% sure my car has the 3rd mount.
markv
yes the front will fit the back no problem just needs to be cut shorter thats all and welded back up i have seen people just cut the and bolt it all back together same thing!
siren676
Awesome that will be an option if i cant find something on TradeMe. Cheers
ryan lang
yours is a 5 door n/a right? you wont have the 3rd point to mount it to dude, alot of members have tried, only thing you can do for the 3 point is get the 3rd point welded in, just buy a 2 point strut, because if you start cutting stuff up it compromises its stability, not like a rear strut is a safety device, but im sure there will be less chance of it functioning properly when its been cut up
siren676
Just rechecked and your right mine doesn't come with the 3rd mount. I already have someone interested in my glanza front brace and am on the lookout for a decent aftermarket rear one.Im really tempted to go for the one you pointed out earlier. Ill probably go for this one in Metallic Red.
stavros
Ive just modified a oem front strut brace to fit the back. Just cut the 3 small tack welds on the bar/mount, cut the bar down to suit, re weld. Job done.
