Sparky
Someone on TGTT posted up that their car passed with gutted cat yesterdayEveryone was like ,Yea thats no suprise, so no you dont
Glanza_Ragger
Neither GT's or Glanza's need catalysts to pass bud. They both fall under the standard idle emissions test. so unless your running uber fuel pressure, and chucking way too much fuel in, itll pass dead easy. You have my word
scutch0
yeah, thats fine by me but the mechanic im using is telling me that he'll have to cat test it unless i can come up with the vosa details that say it doesnt!

Glanza_Ragger
Tell him to telephone VOSA direct. They will put him straight. Why would it need a CAT ? Its not a uk starlet. VOSA will look up your glanza, once they realise its the jdm model starlet and there IS NO uk equivalant GLANZA they will tell him I know they come as standard with catalysts on them, but there will be no records on VOSA's computers to tell the mot testers otherwise. If they still try and test it under a uk toyota starlet, it will probably fail any way because the emissions will be higher than a uk model.Besrt bet is to take it to a quality mot center where they test imports on a regular basis. nick gt turbo
i emaild vosa with the detail of my car n this is what i got back,"Good Afternoon,Thank you for your e-mail.All vehicles require an emissions test, if the tester finds an exact matchfor your vehicle on the analyser data base or inservice emissions book thenhe will carry out a cat test. If there is not an exact match then it willbe a non cat test. If however the vehicle was built without a cat then youwill need to provide a letter from the manufacturer in order for them tocomplete a non cat test.Having checked the In service Emissions book their is not an exact matchfor your vehicle so it would be a non cat test that would be carried out.RegardsChristina"so deffinetly no cat needed!
