N80Jamie Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Well bought the ram manifold and was told it would fit but the intercooler pipe needs just a tiny bit more room the pipe is touching the manifold and it still needs to be leaning a bit further upwards! Is there anyway I can slightly rotate the turbo without having to buy new brackets and stuff? Quote
Taggy Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 If you take the turbo off, you can rotate either side of the turbo with a bit of handy work, take a look at "how to rotate a turbo" threadsWell bought the ram manifold and was told it would fit but the intercooler pipe needs just a tiny bit more room the pipe is touching the manifold and it still needs to be leaning a bit further upwards! bucketep91 Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 is it an over the mani hotpipe? or hdi route?my mate had a problem with his (hdi route) where the flange on the hot pipe was just fouling the manifold, he grinded it down a little and it fitted fine Quote
N80Jamie Posted February 25, 2011 Author Posted February 25, 2011 Its the hdi route, the flange seems to be fine its just where the pipe is coming from the flange. The minfold is slightly intruding where the pipe should be going so it doesnt go on fully. At first i did think it was the flange and i ground it down a bit but then found out otherwise lol Quote
N80Jamie Posted February 25, 2011 Author Posted February 25, 2011 Is it this that i need to undo to rotate the turbo? Quote
Sparky Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 From memory mate yes, just slacken it off and tap it with a rubber hammer, you wont need to move it much so that should do the trick Quote
N80Jamie Posted February 25, 2011 Author Posted February 25, 2011 hmm, ive just removed that clip and still cant seem to budge the turbo lol. Quote
Kennedy Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Would it be easier to bend the IC pipe a bit? Quote
N80Jamie Posted February 25, 2011 Author Posted February 25, 2011 Would it be easier to bend the IC pipe a bit?Probably but theres no easy way of doing that really :| plus if i tried i guarantee id snap it haha Quote
Glanza_cl Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 with that clip removed it should rotate... but the ct9 you have it probably fairly old and is stuck together. a bit of force with a rubber mallet and it will come apart.just be careful you dont damage the shaft or blades.or as above, could you heat the intercooler pipe up and very carefully bend it to fit? Would an oven provide enough heat (250'c iirc) Quote

Glanza_cl Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 no you would need something more concentrated like a blow touch on a low setting... best bet would be to rotate the turbo slightly till it fits Quote
string Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 if you've undone the bit your pointing too then i think you've done it wrong. yes you may get clearance but you'll also move the oil return from pointing straight down. personally i'd undo the circlip on the back of the compressor and rotate that way. could be wrong though. string Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 dunno if ct9s have a locating pin in? that miht need taking out but yeah circlip off and it prob will move round enough without taking apart. Quote
