Whitegv
after fitting my new engine last week complete with new freshly skimmed head, oem headgasket and new head bolts from tmd, and putting my td04 on this morning the head gasket decided it didnt want to create a seal between the water way and piston 3. amazingly timed so that i had to ring in to say i couldnt make it to work on my first day at a new job. felt such a tool. ive stripped it down and ordered a trd .6mm headgasket off fensport which i have been told will be here by tomoro (if not someones getting an arse kicking) its really got me down though to be honest, and its left me wondering if the car will be able to take doing 25mile a day comuting to work. now its not like ive got the boost sat round at 1.2 bar, its on a 10psi spring on the external wastegate (about .55bar) and i have uprated the fuel pump. my plans were to get it mapped on emb up to 1 bar. but im really doubting its abuility to take it after today. ive even considered going to the dark side and getting a teg dc2 or an ep3. but i just have spent so so so much money, and more importantly time on this car for little result i mean its had a £600+ td04 kit, plus the wastegate, plus the turbo. and i know i wont get half that back if i were to sell it separate from the car. what do you think i should do? sell up and get something like a teg or simialar or stick with the V for a bit longer and see how it goes? nazzurro19
give it one last try if not break it if u decide to sell up n get as much as possible back
Whitegv
thing is i wouldnt be able to break it, id need it gone and a new car within the same weekend. and its not really something you can take to a garage and say take that in px for your astra vxr is it loli do fancy a s14 or something though, can insure it cheaper than my v, how stupid is that, 260 brake rwd drift machine over a 130 brake 1.3 turbo. Sparky
I wouldnt want to run a .6mm gasket on a td04, your raising the compression by fitting a thinner gasket
yaristurbo
true im going to a 1.9mm i think
Guest Enzo
standard head gasket size is 1.2 mil,the one you have bought is mostly for an na applicartion,-you need a 1.2 mil gasket failing that 1.4, i sell athenas the cheapest if thats of interest,

Whitegv
so the trd head gasket is wank then basically? fuck me 100 quid that was
Whitegv
http://www.fensport.co.uk/Parts/Model_40/Category_12/ thats the head gasket i bought, the trd one
Steve GT
as G said and leis you'll be better off getting a thicker gasketonce you get it in it will handle 25 mile a day trips piece of piss
Socks
that gasket will be fine, just run less boost...lower the compression you compensate with more boost..raise it and u then compensate with less boost...shud be fine as long as u dont boost it up too high
Idrees
Do NOT use the heasgasket, you're wasting your time. I remember someone used one on their GT, regardless of how much he was told not to use it. He kept going on about how he was only running a small amount of boost, after driving it a new thread popped up by him saying he's ruined it again. The only response he got was 'we told you so'.The .6 is suitable for N/A, you've got a lower compression engine from factory, why ruin that and run low boost? It will be on the back of your mind always. Do it once, do it right. OEM or Athena!
shorty
Oem or official toyota headbolts, athena 1.2mm headgasket, phone fensport n cancel the order, enzo or tmd will be quickest delivery, job done prob fixed. Don't but a uk 200sx they are wank! Couple of mates have em all they do is brake down and the cost a bomb on fuel!! Its a run of bad luck. There is a lot of sound advise on here mate if you listen to it you will be fine and the car will easily do daily drive at 1bar!! Stop gettin down n crack on, boost = smiles!!!!!! Starlets = WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sparky
As Iddy said over on TGTT we all "told him so" and he cam back gutted, cant remember his TGTT username but he is on my facebook, he has a silver and black TOM's kitted quadlight, pretty sure thats who Iddy meant.Shorty knows the score, Athena gasket all the way, starlets can be a pain but when they are going right it'll all be worth it, a few more weeks and you'll be happy again
Whitegv
i need the car back today mate. havent got a choice in the matter. got to put that gasket in it, then think ill see what happens with it. if i keep it ill change the head gasket in may, should be able to afford a run around then.
shorty
Don't need the added expense of a runaround dude, just take it easy till you can afford an athena one and some arp headbolts, you will stuggle to blow a hg then with out a doubt! And don't sell up its a rash choice that 98% regret. We have all felt how your felling with our starlets before and like sparky said when they are all running well its soooo worth the hassle.
