Morph
There a standard size but cant think what buddy im sure its a unf thread not a metric thread.
Sparky
Yea they are coming up as 7/16 mostly so kinda guessed they are all the same, just need to make sure.
Nanglebadger
hold your freaking horses!no, they are not all the same.you will find that the standard ones, what ever size they are, will screw directly into your rear seat belt holes and the seat belt hole on the sill side of the seats. however, the holes through the transmission tunnel are a different thread, your best bet is to drill these out and then just put a nice big bolt on the underside.been through this nightmare with both mine and marks. why toyota did that i will never understand.Phil. Sparky
Yea I have some in the rear and the one down by the door sills so i know they fit. Thanks for the heads up Phil, anyone know what thread size the transmission tunnel ones are? Or do you recommend getting them drilled out and then get the longer eye bolts or will the short ones still have enough thread to put a bolt on the back? Thanks
james@cjperformance
i can go and drill through mine if you want dude to see how long they will need to be
rorenapier
Drill a new hole in the transmision tunnel, directly across from the sill mounted one, and use a spreader plate on the other side. And the eye bolt size is 7/16 UNF.
Sparky
Thanks for the advice Ror, by spreader plates would you mean something like this? Click Me
rorenapier
Yep sumin along them lines, only need one though. My one is slightly bigger, like this one.http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FIA-Approved-Back-Pl...=item41583c46c1
Sparky
Sorry about the questions but why would I only need one?
rorenapier
Because you only need it in the transmission tunnel, the other 3 points are you standard seat belt mounts.
Nanglebadger
probably wouldnt hurt to have the plate, but i aint running one. mine were fitted by rally guys whom i trust implicitly. and its passed MOT in NI which is stricter than a main land MOT. because they're pricks. fact.Phil. rorenapier
I would be surprised Phil, if your rally guys passed scrutineering without one?
Sparky
Because you only need it in the transmission tunnel, the other 3 points are you standard seat belt mounts. What about the passenger side of the tunnel mate? I am running 2 bucket seats and harnesses.
rorenapier
In that case you will need 2, i didnt realise you were running harnesses in both sides.
Sparky
Thats why I was confused haha no worries mate, so will I need longer threaded eye bolts or is 1" thread long enough, then I guess a nut and bolt goes through the little hole on the backing plate?. Nanglebadger
I would be surprised Phil, if your rally guys passed scrutineering without one?aye, but mine aint for rallyin dude. only has to pass MOT for which a simple nut is sufficient.Phil.
rorenapier
Sparks - The spreader plate i linked you has the bolt tacked on to the plate.Phil - Fair enough, the way i read it was the rally car only had a nut on the underside
Sparky
Yea I know that mate I just meant that little hole in it, does it serve a purpose? I did look into it and seee most people tiger seal them on?FINAL QUESTION- Is 1" eye bolts long enough or do I need 2"?
rorenapier
To be honest ive no idea why the little hole is there.I never used any tiger seal on mine, just screwed the eye bolt into it.1" will be more than plenty enough., as long as you drill through the right area. You will see what i mean when you come to do it.
