rob_bower
I wet down ith a hose then wash entire car and wheels with autoglym bodywork shampoo, then rinse. I dry with a microfibre towel rather than chamois i find this works better (plus they are cheaper and last longer than a chamois). Then i polish with one of three things, autoglym supers resin polish, T-cut wax or turtle wax car polish. Then apply autoglym bumper car the any bits. I apply wax/polish with a microfibre mitten then remove with a microfibre cloth.Thats a normal wash any way!!
Mikey Monkfish
I wash the car whenever it looks dirty and the weather permits me to do it. I've only washed the GT twice since I've had her (Which is closing on 5 weeks now) but the weather has been poop.I have 3 types of wash I usually do..."Quick" wash... (30-40 mins)Shower car (Jet spray to remove bird shit etc)Wash down with Meguiers Gold Class or Nxt Gen shampoo (I use a sponge, shame on me)Squeegee down with Turtle Wax squeegeeWash wheels using remaining water in bucket from car and wheel brush."Normal" wash... (2.5-3 hrs)Shower car (Jet spray to remove bird shit etc)Wash down with Meguiers Gold Class or Nxt Gen shampoo (I use a sponge, shame on me)Squeegee down with Turtle Wax squeegeeFinal dry with chamois leatherWash wheels using wheel cleanerPolish entire car with Meguiers Gold Class. Buff off with soft cotton clothApply Turtle Wax Tyre Shine Gel to tyre walls"Detailed" wash... (3.5hrs+)Shower car (Jet spray to remove bird shit etc)Wash down with Meguiers Gold Class or Nxt Gen shampoo (I use a sponge, shame on me)Squeegee down with Turtle Wax squeegeeFinal dry with chamois leatherWash wheels using wheel cleanerSometimes wheels removed to clean calipers properly (If they're painted)Detail paintwork with Meguiers Machine Glaze and rotary bufferFurther detailing with Meguiers Clay detailing bar on bad spotsPolish entire car with Meguiers Gold Class. Buff off with soft cotton clothApply Turtle Wax Tyre Shine Gel to tyre wallsI think that's everything
ecksjay
rain doesn't get the mud off?maybe not, but it gets it wet, thus, it looks a little cleaner. remains filthy when it dries but who cares.if i do ever clean it, i use a sponge and a bottle of wash&wax, job done. do it as quick as i possibly can, i absolutely hate cleaning cars, its an absolute nightmare, and horribly annoying. plus i end up soaking wet as i cannot seem to ever control a hose.plus, its absolutely filthy again after two days because my commute takes me through agricultural roads, so it doesn't last long at all.so, rain is my washing method, and will remain to be for the forseeable future (that and driving really fast whilst hoping the dirty sort of.....falls/rolls off.....maybe.....)
