i need some help the car is going through a glanza conversion and i need to do the engine now it was miss firing badley so i did a compresion test and there all okay , so i bought some new HT leads and its not miss firring but is still smoking realy badley i need help /:! ;)

could be piston rings,

the usual way of telling is if it only does it when cold its valve stem seals and if it does it all the time then its most likely piston rings

wtf, mine smokes abit when its cold. Or it might be because its a hill and thats why it does it everytime i get to that part of the hill it starts smoking then when i put my foot down abit it clears up and is fine again,

then couple of hours later same situation. and it will do it again in the exact same place. What gets me is why doesn't it smoke when driving on flat road, why only when its on the hill part.

how come every thread on here about cars somking theres always people just shouting out yeah its your valve stems, no its your piston rings, no its fuel cut :thumbsup: . all your doing is making other people pick up on this and then they decide to say the same things in the next thread about a smokey car.

no offence to anyone ,i know there are a lot of people in the know on here but its too hard to tell without having a look at the car. ITs ok to point people in the right direction but can you really give a diagnosis on a problem without seeing it or without getting a detailed description of the problem?

it could be a whole host of things do a bit of research and start ruling things out 1 by 1 until you get to the bottom of it but because you have a little bit of smoke doesnt mean you have a major problem

^^ I Know what you are saying but yesterday i watched a starlet gt smoking its bag off :thumbsup: and 10 mins later and a new pcv valve it was like a new car again, i could of swore the seals had gone in the turbo.

And the reason i said that was he isnt far from me so could try mine for free.

But i agree with your comment buddy.

The smoke get's worse i suppose ''/ but allot of people have said stem valve seals , would in not be cheaper if i just bought a new engine .. ? :thumbsup:

Do you know who you bought your engine off?? where they a genuine kind of guy?? did you know the engine run sweet before you bought it dude??

its the sme engine that was in the car when i had it :) it was off idree's i knew it was a non runner when i bought it yeah.

my comment wasnt aimed at anyone, just in these types of thread in general. People always come out with the worst case scenario.

i wouldnt just swap it over for a enw engine right away. are there any members local to you? maybe ask if they could swing by for a wee look at it?

No mate what i get is he has bought a N/A starlet and he has bought another 4efe engine and just putting that back in the starlet..

He has just worded it wrong...?

to be honest some kid on here said if it is your piston ring, you can check by takin out the oil stick and rev. if it pumps smoke out of the dipstick hole its the rings.

i even went to a garage and he said thats 100% correct.
