akyakapotter
just seen this on the bay for the civic rad http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JD-tuning-Toyota...=item45fde3b25b
hkturbo
thanks for letting me know mate, i think thats a bloody bump and a half.
sam2kk8
The civic rad isn't a must if your getting toyosports mani as there stock friendly but yeah definatley don't get stainless from toyosports and use genuine toyota gaskets
hkturbo
ok kl il wait for the radiator.. but everything else sounds about right?? if i got this ecu does it mean i need a fcd? or a rrfpr?
akyakapotter
if your running a stock ecu then yeah youll need fuel cut defender and a rrfpr but id go blitz ecu or someting much better than fcd and rrfpr :-D
hkturbo
il be using a dastek piggyback ecu
Glanza_cl
Then you wont be needing a fcd or rrfpr, the stock fuel regulator is more then capable.get the turbo fitted on the stock ecu, then limp it over to wherever your getting it mapped and get them to wire up the piggyback and map for you. lukerobz
il be using a dastek piggyback ecui ran a dstek ecu mate with my old td04 setup was great tbh you will not need an fcd mate!! but i did use a rrfpr though but thats down to you as i dont think it s a must have
hkturbo
ok soo then its not actually that expensive at all then isit?? all i need is mild steel manifold and decat off ebay for 170 and then the td04 turbo and oil lines. isit worth doinn????!!!??? i could prob get it done on budget 300 quid??also whats a td04 gonna be like in winter with mad cold mornings and shitty weather???
N80Jamie
Yes its worth doing! Get it done!
Glanza_cl
take into consideration setting up the piggy back and mapping, that alone will be around the £300 plus mark
hkturbo
the piggyback is already setup just need to adjust it a bit to the setup i would have. i thought it would only cost me 100 quid or so down at the dyno guys? im having second thoughts about doing the conversion now, its winter aswel not the best time to do it. plus i was gona go for toyosports and some people tellin me to stay away from them! maybe i should stick with the ct9??!? it would be more reliable i guess. Glanza_cl
every set up is different so it isnt a case of just adjusting it a bit i'm afraid. all AFRs will need setting up timing and the ecu tables will need re scaling to match you set up and how it performs. If it really was that cheap and simple everyone would be running them.My personal advice would be wait till after winter, do some research and be 100% sure on what you want to do when the weather starts to improve in the new year
hkturbo
thanks for the advice mate, 300 quid is alot for setting that up!!
nazzurro19
I think u need to so more research , £300 to set up a rrfpr , and a map etc is a good price lol!!
Glanza_cl
Thats a cheap price as it goes lol, most tuners will want £30-£50+ an hour on a dyno and take a reasonable time tuning the ecu, road tuning costs less but for dastek you need to go somewhere with a dastek licence
hkturbo
ohhh i seee..

hkturbo
thanks for the replies and stuff.. but i ws just wondering cudnt i just fit the mani and decat and tdo4 turbo and keep it restricted to 0.8 bar until i save up for a decent remap? or is there other stuff I HAVE to do. Socks
good guide in my signature buddy if your struggling!
hkturbo
ye mate i checked that out, very useful indeed . i just dont wana waste money doing up the ct9 when i can just go straight to td04. i could get the mani and decat mild steel for 160 and then the turbo.. and then jus keep it under fuel cut?? i dont see the point in spending 300 - 400 quid on ct9 mods when u cud make it just as fast this way for cheaper??? obv i wont thrash it about but for motorway td04 is defoo much better. Glanza_cl
Fit whatever you like mate, could fit a td05 20g if you really wanted, as long as you keep the boost under or around 0.8/8.5bar with no boost creep you will be fine.
