Starlet__SR
Is it not the steering column? Thats what usually goes. It did on mine lolD

GT Phayer
no lol they said if theres play in the inner rods you cant only change the rods as the play proberly has damaged were they bolt to or something
Starlet__SR
no lol they said if theres play in the inner rods you cant only change the rods as the play proberly has damaged were they bolt to or somethingThats the first i've heard of it lol. It's just a ball joint, it will have only worn down enough so that there's play. Cant see it doing any damage bar to itselfD
GT Phayer
so changing just the rods will be fine
Starlet__SR
so changing just the rods will be fine Don't see why not, they're only electric pas, the rest is still a normal steering rack, have you checked all the usual suspects?Wheel bearings, track rod ends, track rods, perhaps even the universal joint between rack and column?D
Starlet__SR
Might also be worth adding, the bolts that hold the rack sometimes sheer. It happened on mine after I drove into a rather large potholeAnd the track rods are available. Or they were last time I checked lolD
GT Phayer
basicly it sort of sounds like a really loud anti roll bar link knock but a garage has said the rack is on its last legs even knowing it past an m.o.t lol il have to have a look over it and see

Known people spend £100's trying to sort a problem just by guessing at the problem. If it needs a few little bits you may aswell replace it at the same time. Silly little things like bushes and ball joints are pennies to replace and always make an improvementD
