The previous owner had the wheels profesionaly powdercoated green, fitted a decat, relocated the battery to the boot, relocated the airfilter to the front. had parts of the dash painted green and changed the lights on all the dials to a bright blue colour.

since then all ive realy done is replaced the old battered K & N Filter For a Bigger GREEN filter, resparyed the strut brace green and changed the radiator and BOV hose. and changed all three engine/ gearbox mounts.

And this is it currently all polished and clean, waiting on a mid duck spoiler to come through at the moment so will update pictures when that arrives and when i start making some real changes.

No updates recently, mainly due to my head gasket blowing (anybody who checks the technical questions will already know this, had major problems diagnosing it due to being a cheapstake and not wanting to fork out 20 quid for a compression tester :haha: ) but with a bit of luck it will be sorted this weekend, and should have a nice new stainless decat and mani on, and a clean head so will get some pics up when its all done.

11/04/11

Finaly got the car running again today :D after working both days of the weekend and taking today of work it started. saturday and sunday were manic days just putting the headgasket and head back together in the insane heat and plugging everything back in (oh and putting the new mani on) just to find out my car was pissing out fuel due to the rubber seals on the injectors being broken. so today consisted of finding these seals from a hardware shop all 4 cost me 48p instead of the 4 quid each and 2 day wait i got quoted from toyota, then we found out the car was misfiring, turned out to be a plug which started another epic trip to find the right plug lucky toyota had the set cheap enough and now she runs:D we also made a custom intercooler cover too, the original was snapped.

Blown gasket :(

Okay after some advice i took the intercooler cover off, it realy didnt help with cooling, so i wouldnt advise anybody else on doing it. other than that i fitted my tow hook which took some modification of the original rear towing eye and some original spats to beef up the back a bit, and i removed my rear wiper. right now my exhaust is blowing realy bad, but im just waiting on money now, im a week away from new blitz nurspec :D will update with some pics of that when its all done.

Tow hook, spats and rear wiper gone!

just bought a bosozoku subway grab to hang of my tow hook and ofc turbozilla air freshner ;) advice to anybody who decides there guna put a subway grab on there car, either mount it like i did in the first picture or cut it to fit otherwise it will drag even at speed and it wil scuff the shit out of it :/ also got a powerflow system fitted, after deciding the power gain to cost of the blitz exhaust wasnt good enough. is sounding alot less chavy ( like my horrible old back box) and looks alot better too :).

First attempt, wasnt happy with it

Im currently pissed right off, had just taken the Girlfriend to her first car show (japfest 2) to prove to her there not boring, but while on the way there my turbo suddenly got alot louder and i was down on boost pressure, by now i was nearly 2hours away from home with no break down cover and in a convoy so i just carried on, when we got to donnington i popped my bonnet and realised it was all caused by the fact that all four nuts holding my down pipe to my turbo had came off. now to me it dosnt seem likely that they all just happened to "fall" off, im guessing that the exhaust company never put them back on or that the MOT tester that had my car the week before took them off for some reason and never put them back on. after discovering this i spent the day at the show then went to the nearest exhaust specialist to get the nuts fitted, an hour later i was driving home when i heard another noise, this time it was a misfire, turns out my head gasket blew again (i know my own fault for not getting it skimmed last time) and i then had to wait 2 hours on the side of the M42 for my dad to come turn up and tow us back (none of this helped prove to emma (girlfriend) car shows arnt a bad thing) so now ive had to spend all the money i had saved for a drift machine sorting out the head AGAIN, but this time were doing it properly , guna get it skimmed and put a thicker gasket one and hope for the best. moral of the story: dont skimp or you will lose out in the long run XD

18/8/2011

head gasket finally got done about a week ago, this time with a skimmed head, and 1.2mm thick athena headgasket and it passed its M.O.T, turned out it was just the plastic coating coming off my brake pipes and the garage were just trying to pull a fast one :/ as far as mods go havnt done much perfomance wise, just messing about with things, i stickered bombed my steering wheel( orginaly it had a few deep scratches in the metal i wanted covered up) and ordered up a new drift style gear shifter and a few stickers to replace the old one, will post some pics when things start turning up. thinking about a turbo conversion as soon as moneys flush again but im not entirley sure which turbo route to go down, going to have to do some reasearch, TD12 seems quite appealing at the moment.

okay no updates for a while mainly due to the fact it went wrong again about a week after its MOT and i just lost all interest in the car, and never intended on getting it fixed, was just going to sell it as it was ( some of you maybe have seen the for sale thread). basicaly this time it was pissing oil from the breather all over my engine bay ( piston rings gone) and it devloped a nasty high end knocking which eventualy made the car stall and undrivable ( guessing a bent valve, still unsure though ). this is the third time this year ive been let down by it, and the worst part is i dont even rag it, ive always looked after it and maintained it well:(. anyway after a good month of looking around at s13's ( want to learn to drift) i realised the money i had saved was getting close to the 2k mark, nearly enough to get a tm developments forged engine, so i came back to the forums and in the for sale section was a fully forged 4e engine for 1600 from lleey2k4 (originaly from danes project) . so i checked the insurance next year and now its dropped to 1300 a year i definatley wanted to keep the starlet, so i messaged him and after he said he would include the hks fuel rail for 1650 well lets just say im now 1650 down and the starlet should be alive again in the next 3 weeks, watch this space :D

01/11/2011

ive wrote this about 3 times now over the last 2 days and my computers died just before ive pressed save everytime, so if this is a bit vauge i apologise but i realy cant bothered to wirte it all out again :p

In a nutshell we picked up my engine thursday (from llee2ky massive thanks to you mate), and started work saturday, our original plan was to disconect everything, part the engine and gearbox, lift the old engine out, drop the new one in, reconnect everything, job done. but what infact happened was we got everything disconnected, went to pick up an engine crane from my friend, but when we arrived we realised his full size workshop engine hoist was definatley not going to fit in our box trailer towed by a vw golf so we then got a smaller one, but it was home made and had been sat in a corner of a yard for 2 years so we had to spend the rest of the day trying to free it up.

sunday we fast realised that it was going to be a near impossible task parting the engine from the gearbox in the tiny starlet enginebay so we decided to drop it out of the bottom instead ( so was a complete waste of time getting the engine crane other than for added support) , so after taking the driveshafts out and jacking the car right up we managed to drop the engine out, split the engine and gearbox, change the clutch then struggle to put the gearbox back onto the new engine, and slide the engine back under my car before it got dark, we hoped to get it done in one weekend but due to all the hold ups and dark evening we just couldnt, with a bit of luck itll be done by next weekend though, and will hopefully be a bit easier for once with this car, ill update as soon as its done :) heres a few pics for now!

Finaly got everything done last week and weekend, after coming home for a dentist appointment on thursday that got cancelled ( i was so gutted;)) we decided to use the time while it was dry to get the engine in, for once it turned out to be relativley easy and with a bit of persuasion it sat on the engine mounts and we got it in before it got dark. we spent the weekend bolting everything back on and plugging things back in, but we had a major hold up because some c*nt decided to take my bolts of my swinging arm, after finidng some more it all went together, had to take the tm devlopments rocker top off and swap it for my old one for now though, the uprated breather valves dont fit under a standard tmic, we managed to start it up just as it got dark but it sounded like it was "hunting" for fuel, the revs were up and down and we were getting alot of black smoke, but it was too late to sort it out.

Next morning we swapped some vacum pipes round on the breathers and on the inlet and plugged one back in that i had missed the evening before and it started fine, but then died, after trying everything we thought it could be we left it for half an hour and tried again, it started fine so we left it running and seems to be fine now, think it was slightly flooded due to us keep switching it on and off and i think it was partialy down to the fact the engine had been sat around for a while. anyway its going out for its first long test run later so ill update with how i get on, and with some pics of my "jimmy up" gear knob thats just turned up :D and i wanna say a massive thanks to everybody that answered all my forum pest questions over the last two weeks youve all been a huge help and wouldnt have been able to do it without TGTT! :D

Took it out and it was fine apart from a boost leak and a little water leak from a pipe at the back of the engine. the water leak seems to be sorted now but cant get to the bottom of the boost leak right now, dosnt seem to be a crack in the manifold, cant find any unplugged or leaking vacums( though could be a split in one hiding somewhere) im being told it could be the stock actuator. but regardless of what it is im not overly bothered so will see what its doing after the turbo swap, if its still leaking afterwards it will 100% be a leaking vacum somewhere. other than that fitted my gear knob...then had to take it straight off when i took the car out the first time just couldnt get used to it, but with a bit of persitance ive got used to it now and it actualy feels alot better, definatley wont be any good for racing though, its not to everybodies taste but i like it.:)

Took the car to emma's house on saturday and while i was driving around the town my clutch decided it didnt want to work, dosnt susualy help much when your literaly 100 miles away from home, after a phonecall to my dad we thought it might need bleeding off again, in the process of trying to do this i lost all my clutch fluid and had to wait until the nect day to get some more. after getting some more and a bleeder kit so my GF didnt have to sit in my car pushing the clutch shouting "up" and "Down" over and over it became pretty clear this wasnt the problem.

Seems like my master clutch cylinder has gone, so my dad had to pick me up and now the car is sat in the girlfriends drive until next weekend when we go back up with a new clutch master cylinder (from lee2k4 thanks again mate!) and sort it out...hopefully!

19/11/11

Clutch master cylinder all done now, was quite a bit easier to change than we first thought, once again i want to say a massive thanks to lee, he realy couldnt have been more helpfull, great bloke to deal with!:) next i should be picking up my vf34 in the coming week/ weekend :D!

03/12/11

Turbo wasnt ready to be picked up last weekend so was hoping to pick it up today, but on tuesday a lorry cut me up on a round about( his fault) and did my front quater over pretty good, worst of all he didnt speak a word of english, so didnt manage to get anything out of it, also down to me thinking id have to claim of my insurance not his, was told otherwise when i got home:/

Anyway the pictures do the talking, but i havnt pictured the mirror he f*cked over. luckily Danb87 had a set which he posted out cheap to me, (definatley recomend dan to anybody, hes a legend) and ive put them on today. and my uncle owns a body shop so is going to sort everything else out for me :D but its still chucked me back a bit with money, so going to have to wait a bit longer for my turbo :(

Damage! scuffed bumper, ripped off arch strip, kink in the wing (highlighted) and marked alloys :(

23/12/2011

Okay so its nearing the end of 2011, and 2012 should hopefully see my car running a vf34, but after getting an xmas bonus i wanted to spend it on something more visible, after much thinking and a TGTT vote ;)http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/forums/showthread.php?93952-LiveSports-spoiler-ep82-yes-or-no&p=1045039#post1045039

I decided to buy a livesports spoiler, hoping it will set of the mid spoiler and will look different, turned up today from ID workz, and its looking good. going to get it painted the same time i sort my arch out, so just waiting on some milder weather so i can chuck some filler on my arch and then its down to my uncles spray shop for some painting! :D

Surfs up! (sorry iphone quality pics!)

18/01/2012

So first post of 2012 and it may well be my last for this first half of the year. Thats it. starlet and the vf34 conversion is coming to a halt for now. many things bought me to this decision. some being The guy offering me the cheap vf34 has endlessly messed me about, i need reliability not speed right now (misses lives 100 miles away) i took it out saturday and decided i was happy with its current state, (kept up with a scooby estate) and the main reason i still have the itch for something rwd, and it just isnt going to go away until ive tried it myself, have wanted to try drifting since way before i could drive and im now in a position where im earining enough to give it a go, will definatley still be around the forums (just renewed my membership) and will be back and continuing the vf34 swap eventualy so this definatley isnt goodbye. just a break, so keep an eye out for a thread on my next project:)

06/04/2012

So as you can see from the date, the previous entry was a bit of a lie, im still not carrying on with the starlet at the moment, but the nasty lorry marks are being sorted out and my ID workz spoiler is being put on soon so will update with some newer pics when all thats done. And ive also decided to show it at japfest with the UKSC guys so will get some new pics from that too. Other than That im still on track for saving for my next car, which hopefully should be a tad more reliable and not cause half as much stress as the ep82 has.

09/05/2012

basicaly i got lonley and decided to post another update, cars in my uncles bodyshop as i type this, got my brother working there now finishing it off and it should be all painted tommorow (I HOPE with japfest being 3 days away) and then i can bolt the spoiler one and get it all polished up and ready for the UKSC stand. Car is still ace fun to take out for weekend blasts and i still love it to bits, but im still tired of spending money on it. even forking out for the arch repair is pissing me off. Read this on driftworks recently http://www.driftworks.com/forum/drift-car-projects-builds/122900-drift-division-z33-350z-drift-project.html and think this is the direction ill be going with my next car. so ill get some pics finaly posted over the weekend and then im pretty sure that will be my last post for a long time, im not even spending a 10th of the time i used to on here now:( .

17/5/2012

okay so cars all done now and is looking awesome, and after rolling down to japfest with the UKSC lot my love for starlets got revived, we have such an amazing comunity, its not too big like the honda scene but still big enough to be recognised, its like having a second less irritating family, and its awesome being part of it. so im still on track for getting a driftter but the starlet isnt going anywhere either, and ill probably be throwing a bit more money at it again now. anyway heres a few pics from japfest, was too busy to take many lol. ill get some better ones up soon (oh and as usual not all went to plan, aerosole was spilt on my wheel in the bodyshop and the thinners removed the green so have to get my wheels repainted -.-)

lol the ever lasting list of its gone wrong again .....

I had it, we've all had it...

Once they are all done she'll be fine...

Looking good mate, time for some suspension work next

cheers guys

haha yeah, i did completly lose interest before the engine swap, but yeah all seems fine now other than a little boost leak:) yeah suspension needs sorting before i add to many horses, is just quite another part on the "expensive stuff i need" list :)

Ya mate wot power you after

300bhp...not stupid figures but enough and its achievable, i dont think a VF34 is capable of alot more than that, think they max at 320bhp ish? and due to it being a rollerbearing i dont want to push it too hard and have to pay to get it fixed or worse still end up with an engine full of bearings :p

and thanks john, have managed to soo far, just keep telling myself its to be expected of a 18 year old car :)

Aww cool mate that wot I want around about 300 ish

yeah its a good achievable figure, i think it will be a struggle getting the power down so god knows how some of the claimed 400-500bhp lads even move is beyond me, but its a daily driver too so dont want it too mental ;)

Looking good mate and hope the clutch master cylinder helped :)

300bhp is alot to run through the front wheel unless your running some standalone like i was running, or a decent diff.

As with my old starlet it went wild on an emanage ultimate and i could get it spinning up in 4th with just 1.1 bar on vf23.

Nice job so far, needs some nicer wheels to set it off though :)

Your order should arrive with you tomorrow by the way.

thanks mate, yeah trying to find some now, got some team dynamics pro sports coming for free but i dont like them so will be swapping or selling them to fund some other wheels:) maybe rota grids. and yeap it turned up today, im mega pleased with it, is great quality, will definatley be getting a toms style grill of you eventualy :) cheers again.

yeah bud big time, would have had my car stuck 100 miles away other, youve been a huge help sinc eive had your engine off you:)i know bud, alot of mates are telling me ill be getting through drive shafts like toilet roll too, as for ecu's i have no idea what to get, dosnt seem like theres alot capable of dealing with it, would you actualy recomend the emanage? and yeah will be looking at LSD's in the distant future too :p

I never had any problems with Driveshafts just the gaiters kept splitting. An if i was you id get onto Nick Jones at Tuning Developments, he has a whole range of ECUs now and he put me an emanage ultimate in my old car and mapped it and it was great with a really good customer service.

Emanage Ultimate would be good enough :)

ahh fair enough, there a piece of piss to do so wont be worrying about that, do all starlets have the star fitment on the end of there driveshafts or is that just uprated ones? and yeah ive read all the TD banzai features and they sound like they know what there doing, will have a word with them when all the parts start coming together, thanks for that lee :)
