Said i'd throw up a project thread here. It's not all that spectacular and there's quite a lot of new things in the car that I haven't photographed yet. But i'll put up what I have and take some new pictures over the next few days of some of the newer features.

Here's how I got the car :

There was green slime and mould all over the car from it lying up so long.

As you can see it had a kickass set of wheels on it, not !!

384913_10150410285128480_593413479_8384256_143042932_n.jpg

If you thought the car was in a bad way outside, you aint seen nothing yet !!!

First thing I did with the car was grab my socket set and start taking the interior out.

One side hoovered.

384870_10150410287443480_593413479_8384275_1108010279_n.jpg

Myself working away

317463_10150410287163480_593413479_8384273_1775447946_n.jpg

I then got the lend of an industrial carpet cleaner and did my seats and carpet.

One very persistant stain on the back passenger carpet wouldn't go fully, but it's nearly gone now.

My mother went mad at me when she came home to find the interior of my car drying by the radiators in the sitting room haha

319591_10150410287698480_593413479_8384278_1307050653_n.jpg

Gave the outside of the car a quick wash while the interior was drying.

Then got the interior back into the car.

Car was clean for one day, until I came home from college and found the council had dug up the pavement outside and left my car in a cloud of dust.

380541_10150433327728480_593413479_8454531_397608568_n.jpg

374622_10150433328233480_593413479_8454541_1878300513_n.jpg

To say I was annoyed at them would be an understatement !

Next little job to fix was my speedo, it wouldn't work and it was stuck at 100 kmh constantly

384421_10150410285943480_593413479_8384263_1812929939_n.jpg

Turned out to be the speedo cable not connected up correctly and a very small pin slightly bent in my speedo clock which had cause it to stick. Very easy fix :)

391954_10150424831578480_593413479_8433512_1573766321_n.jpg

Next turned my attention to the engine bay.

389030_10150410286743480_593413479_8384269_153345832_n.jpg

There was wiring all over the place, bits pulled out of the fuse-board every where and it was a general mess.

Wasn't too concerned about looks though as function was more important. The previous owner had only just put a brand new head-gasket on the car as it had previously over-heated. He evidently never flushed the rad though as this is what I removed from it.

388225_10150424830408480_593413479_8433503_1188556354_n.jpg

321222_10150424830508480_593413479_8433504_488278284_n.jpg

I flushed the coolant system out with rad flush and put some new coolant in the car. I fired the car up and realised very quickly there was no coolant circulating. My first thought was thermostat ! Went out and bought one, opened up the housing and to my surprise there was nothing inside it. I knew this wasn't good, as it wasn't the thermostat at fault. Next I turned my attention to the water pump and this is what I removed.

381961_10150440815183480_593413479_8479234_980057234_n.jpg

Not a single fin left on the water pump !

384905_10150440815273480_593413479_8479236_440872748_n.jpg

I got a new water pump, installed that and flushed the entire system out again and all was well.

Once the engine was running ok, I went out and bought 2 new belts for it, fresh oil and filter, a k&n induction kit, and some iridium tip plugs.

399056_10150473394858480_593413479_8578868_1503069336_n.jpg

I really hated the steel wheels on the car so my next purchase was these.

390540_10150473394053480_593413479_8578857_1405350471_n.jpg

394629_10150473394218480_593413479_8578859_1657764613_n.jpg

Two of the tyres were worn badly enough, so I got 4 brand new tyres put on them and got a set of blue titan wheel nuts to put them on the car with.

I also picked up this Autobahn88 front mount intercooler kit for an absolute bargain of €100 (£80)

394416_10150473394763480_593413479_8578867_1864115655_n.jpg

381578_10150473394498480_593413479_8578864_1696317451_n.jpg

399832_10150473394673480_593413479_8578866_522604611_n.jpg

There was also a full aftermarket exhaust system on the car when I got it.

384415_10150410285808480_593413479_8384262_1598589973_n.jpg

I haven't got a picture off hand, but it polished up very well in comparison to the above picture.

The car also had a hideous fly-off handbrake, dunno why anyone would put one in a FWD car

380827_10150410286263480_593413479_8384265_772838966_n.jpg

I changed this out for a standard hand-brake.

The car also had a momo steering wheel which I love. It cleaned up very well in comparison to the picture aswell.

375685_10150410286173480_593413479_8384264_1942518841_n.jpg

It also had the original gt strut bar in the boot of the car too. I'll update the thread a little later with some pictures of how the car looks closer to now.

Welcome to the form mate, good clean has bought the car up a treat, keep it up.

the steering wheel is actually an optional extra wheel so very nice

Ahh I have quite a few bits more that have gone onto it. Thanks mate.

Hello from one Irish man to a other. It looks to be a clean car you have there but why was it parked up for so long and cannt get over the dirt coming out of the rad

Cheers man, the car was lying up in portlaoise. It was left lying up cause the guy that owned it bought a limited edition gt4 celica and he simply lost interest in the car. Was lying up for over a year in total. Ye some amount of muck in it !
