ilghap Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Hi everyoneJust wanted to know a very simple question.I just got some leds (interior ones) and I wand to wire them up so they come on when I turn the side lights on.Can someone tell me what is the best or easiest route to do this?bearing in mind I dont know much about electronics. Should I tackle this myself or should I leave this to a friend of a friend who does alot of car wiring. If it's farily simple, can you tell me how it's done? Thanks Quote
JayJ Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Not so simple question. It really depends on how many leds you have, what kind of leds, what is led's voltage drop and current rating. You also have to calculate needed resistance to not to burn the leds with excessive current. Cars voltage isn't very stable, so good rule is to use 14.5V instead of 12V when calculating things. There are also some "plug-and-play" sets for car use, a bit easier to install. Some basics: http://www.theledlight.com/LED101.htmlLeave it to someone who has done these before, if you don't know what you are going to do. It saves time and all the hassle ;-) Quote
