Beastmode panda
Hey guys. Just want to know a couple of things that are having me a bit baffled before i go externally gated in a month or so. Why do people go externally gated other than the fact it looks nice? What are the benefits other than no boost spike? Would it make a difference (better) to the power delivery and the power in general? Thanks. Edited March 23, 2013 by Rbz. StuDoc 72
Im going externally gated soon aswell buddy but on a ct9 hybrid. It will hold boost more accurately and depending on your previous mani it may have a better flow. Its jus far more reliable and theoretically will make tiny amounts more power as its controlling the boost far more precise. Edited March 23, 2013 by StuDoc
jayc-glanza17
far greater stability of boost mate, plus the screamer sound as well..its basically more realible, should keep boost creep down as well..
starletburkie
Wouldn't say it looks nice as some kits ya can't even see the wg but the screamer pipe sounds savage, love mine!
Liam_D
Screamer noise is nuts mate! Main reason I did it was for better boost control and it's worked a treat.
pick1
Same as above really no boost spike , more controllable boost , it will prob boost a little earlier and hold better that what I found when I changed to externally gated set -up n obviously the screamer is immensely fun in the right places
AdamB
Theres no advantage at all, it depends on the turbine and how well it flows, also the size of the wastegate. Internal wastegates work just as well as external, on the right turbo. Edited March 23, 2013 by AdamB

Beastmode panda
Cool cheers for the reply lads. Remember though i already have my custom RW developments screamer pipe Love it though! Cheers.
AdamB
What about boost creep , boost control , etc then Like I said, it depends on the size of the wastegate penny. Not many turbo's are able to accomodate such large pennies like 34mm+. Boost control would just be done via actuator and EBC. Everyone seems to think that external wastegate is the best thing ever, but if you dive a little deeper, internal gates can be just as good providing the right turbo.
