_shaun_ Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 one thing that seems a grey area on the forged 5es is the oil pressure release valve some seem to say they modify it and others dont touch it whos done what and how manys miles/power are they running any issues? cheers s haun Quote

AdamB Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Personally I would run an aftermarket gauge and try it first, some engines are different to others so will respond differently to more or less oil pressure. Failing that run a proper standalone ecu and have an oil pressure warning system set so it cuts the engine when oil pressure drops below 1 bar Quote
5e colin Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 i run a 2.5 mm washer on my forged 5e but it does 8.5k Quote
Asad Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 As Adam says, build it up and check to see where the pressure is at...tolerances are different with each engine so can lead to different pressures then you can take the necessary steps Be interesting to see what zisco says Quote
AdamB Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 (edited) You only have to drop the sump and put a washer in there, no harm in dropping the sump once or twice during run in period anyway to remove any swarf shit from the bottom. Colin makes a good point though, if you are expecting to run a high rev limit its adviseable to increase the oil pressure to ensure the bottom end does effectively run dry at such high revolutions.
