5e oil pressure relealse valve

one thing that seems a grey area on the forged 5es is the oil pressure release valve some seem to say they modify it and others dont touch it whos done what and how manys miles/power are they running any issues?

Personally I would run an aftermarket gauge and try it first, some engines are different to others so will respond differently to more or less oil pressure. Failing that run a proper standalone ecu and have an oil pressure warning system set so it cuts the engine when oil pressure drops below 1 bar 8)

As Adam says, build it up and check to see where the pressure is at...tolerances are different with each engine so can lead to different pressures then you can take the necessary steps

You only have to drop the sump and put a washer in there, no harm in dropping the sump once or twice during run in period anyway to remove any swarf shit from the bottom.



Colin makes a good point though, if you are expecting to run a high rev limit its adviseable to increase the oil pressure to ensure the bottom end does effectively run dry at such high revolutions.
