Lawless
I recently removed the efi pipe and put a breather on the rocker and its chirping away like jimny cricket has been sucked through the bonnet scoop can only here it when idling and I've tried two brand new different breathers Is this normal ? Thanks
StuDoc 72
No it sounds like you have a blocked breather somewhere else or your PCV valve is knackered. Someone else might be able to be more accurate though.
Lawless
Seems strange I tried to brand new breathers of different brand aswel and same sound coming from them it's not spitting oil is running fine just chirps away in traffic or on idle :/Yet it wasn't making this noise when the standard recirc was connected to the efi pipeHow can I tell if the Pcv valve is blocked ? StuDoc 72
Is it doing this when the breather is on aswell? I'm sure its normal to make a little chirpy noise when its open to the atmosphere. Is the breather got a jubilee clip to tighten it on?
Lawless
It has got a jubilee clip on the breather it's not done up overly tight because I don't want to damage the little bit of pipe it sits on not tried it with the breather off but before fitting it there was no noise coming from the standard recirc valve and it literally only chirps cars running fine just wanted to make sure this was normal or if I've done something wrong Thanks
scottyb
Mine does it as well. I thought it was just air through the filter tbh. I still have the efi pipe etc, just fitted the breather as i have a different bov. Im sure ive seen videos of other engines doing the same. May have been one by taggy? dualhead
what about rocker criping
Rob H@RCH Engineering
It perfectly normal for them to make a noise like that even the n/a engine does it I think its down to the noise from the cam and the air flow through the baffle plate in the cover.
funny onion
I have 2 rocker covers, one chirps and the other doesn't. Other than drive me mad it has never seeme to affect anything I wouldn't worry.
Lawless
Thanks for replies It hasn't affected the running of the car but it does start to do your head in when sat in traffic that's about it
Chris Green
Yeah, mine chirps away as well, only when the breather is off though.
