heyyaaarrr ..

figured i mayswell start some form of blog, since it is a mk1 .. ill apologise in advance for my spelling/ punctuation i write how i talk so, slightly retarded, and its a car forum not an english lesson.

i bought the car about april /may time, won it on ebay picked it up one thursday night in the dark :( .. test drove it discovered a nice clunk which i was putting down to bush's, pulled lovely no smoke, felt solid and came with a couple of mods.

hks ssq

Halfrauds autoguage boost guage

stainless back box

and some madza mx5 14" wheels ( magnesuim i think)

removed hi/lo boost controller

i got to see it in the light the next day .. its green, and for some reason the top half has been sprayed matt black .. my only thought is he's seen trisk's and decided to make his own version. its fair enough it doesn't look too bad and it proberbly fixed a shedload of paintwork faults .. hes also had the roof and bonnet wrapped in carbon. that looks nice i will admit. i'm thinking about a coat of clear over the top of the wrap to make it look a little more authentic.

on the plus side hes spent about 3/4 days sanding down all the boot floor and putting it in primer for me :))

he was only a young lad, keeen and spent a lot of time on the forum so he said .. couldnt afford to insure it and bought himself one of those 600cc 4wd jap kei cars,

so when i picked it up it was standard other than the above mentioned .. my old man is the parts guy at toyota in hull, so naturally if i let the old man take it, the techs there practically steal her.

thats link to the bits ive allready done

the other weekend i set about fitting a downpipe i got from toby .. which has changed things dramatically, the backfire makes me moist ..

the manifold is still cracked but i cant undo the centre top two nuts to replace it :((

http://s269.photobucket.com/user/funkstar_photos/media/IMAG0246.jpg.html'>IMAG0246.jpg

i replaced both wheel bearings when i did the bottom arm bush's, arb and droplinks .. only to have one of them shit itself before id mounted it to the car. i dont know if this is toyotas fault when pressing it in or manufacturer but :(((

Get some molies on the mani bolts. Failing that get your old man to take it to work and get them to use some heat and crack the nuts the tighten them back up for you to take off easier.

Your gna need the mani off to replace the turbo anyway and would be aswell replacing the mani or de restricting it while you have it off.

That said its looking good your doing the right stuff. You may be better with an ARC top mount or an RX7 one save you cutting that precious bumper lol.

Yeahh I've got a beasty blowtorch I used to use when I was plumbing that should get them hot enough I think, although I had my turbo off the other day without removing it .. I have a stainless one, that my friend wants to swop for a mild steel one, mainly because he wants it to look nice under the bonnet and mild steel rusts .. the thought of a rex top mount is there but I think its not worth it because of heat soak and the looks .. I wanna be able to see my rocker and fuel rail when you pop the bonnet and with the need for 200 I'm gunna need as much air through my intercooler as possible, but like I've Said I might go for a wide thin front mount off a 2wd cossie or something, it'll tuck nicely behind everything and still be extra stealth if I paint it black .. I'm sure it being a ct9. the intercooler doesn't need to be huge or I'm just gunna get more lag and less response ..

Stainless manis arent really any good to be honest youd be far better with a mild steel 1 the SS will just crack plus they only stay shiny for a little while then turn yellow lol.

ARC and RX7 topmounts are normally good enough for most CT9 set ups but yeah they do cover your rocker. A nice ARC looks good though. Just upto what you wanna spend and personal preferance.

Yeahh I'm feeling you mate .. i got the manifold with the car it had a small crack which again Toyota kindly tig welded up for me. It looks stainless to me but its not branded and the material itself is pretty. and thick walled.. I presume they crack because the runners are different lengths so they expand at differnet rates when they get hot .. I'm totally up for a swopping with him it needs doing sooner rather than later .. flamin Sam is drilling out a snapped stud on the mild steel one so hopefully I'll get it sorted soon. I'm feeling a front mount over anything it will look nicer and I can get the pipes powdercoated or sprayed to match the engine bay theme :) ... I'll just have to be really really careful not to cut the bumper might remove the centre slats and shift the plate or make a smaller one.

rightt update time..

i had a brilliant time a japfest 2 there was sooo many stunning cars.

im gutted i couldnt bring the mk1 but the turbo would have just smoked out the whole of donnington. a friend of mine had a bit of an Indian moment on me and gave me his old ct9 as he had upgraded to a 2nd hand hybrid, the hybrid since failed and he decided he wanted the turbo back :(.. i was angry but, such as life ..

my arm was twisted :) i will admit ive had my doubts about going td04 but it just makes sense really :)

i still need to buy a turbo and ideally i want one thats allready rotated, i know its just my luck when i split the core from the housings ill damage something. for the oil line i can just pop to pirtek in hull flaminsam said it took about 5 mins for them to make his.

i got my mits on a couple of these

http://s269.photobucket.com/user/funkstar_photos/media/IMAG0286.jpg.html'>IMAG0286.jpg

the buckle is metal so it should be alot better than the crappy carling one i had on my keys, if anybody wants one a small donation and i suppose i could post it :)

the car was sold to me with an lsd, it pulls like it has one and throws me twords kerbs but the box is just a standard box

:s

while the car has been laid about ive been messing around on the interior plastics and had a little door card trimming session,

i got hold of some oem alpine speakers from a box in the loft at hull toyota. i had some fun fitting them to my doorcards, love it or hate it i dont care :)

front mount and some paint makes a hell of a difference i think. vokesa kindly washed the car and ive since removed that sticky numberplate mess off the splitter .. should have really taken a better photo :/

ive done my absolute best to hide the front mount and not cut the bumper :) im still debating wether i should remove that centre bit, any thoughts on what i should do ??
