Lawless
Trying to seal the hot pipe for the fimic is proving to be a royal pain in the arse was going to try using some sealant but not sure which to use as it gets quite hot can anyone recommend anything
StuDoc 72
NONE! You cant put sealant on your intake system. Which part are your struggling to seal? Is it CT9? There should be a gasket.
Lawless
It's the point where the flange on the intercooler would bolt on to the ct9 the studs don't seem long enough and can just about get the nut to bite the thread the gaskets still there but while trying to boost all I'm getting I's areal high pitched whistling I can only pressumr it's this part as the rest of it all seems sound spent last couple of nights trying to sort it can't seem to in the cause can I just thread a Long nut and bolt through there or do I have to use the studs provided
StuDoc 72
So its where the hot pipe bolts on to the CT9? If its due to the studs being too short then take them out and replace them with bolts as its obviously threaded you wont need nuts. Just DON'T use sealant.

akyakapotter
Why not stu doc ? I used black loctote sealant on my old ct9 set up was fine used common sense and didn't go mad with it worked a treat
Lawless
That's what I was thinking was gonna go grab a tube of locktite sealant and just smooth a fine layer over gasket and pipes but not go crazy with it but ill try removing the studs first otherwise I have no other option but to use sealant or put the top mount back on
StuDoc 72
Why not stu doc ? I used black loctote sealant on my old ct9 set up was fine used common sense and didn't go mad with it worked a treat Shouldnt have any type of sealant on the intake side of a cars aspiration system. Ofcourse you can be careful but its proper practice not to. They use gaskets for a reason. All it takes is 1 little bit to get sucked through and you could have big problems. Same reason you dont use exhaust paste before the turbo. Edited June 21, 2013 by StuDoc
Lawless
Ill try changing studs first otherwise top mount will go back on dint want to cause anymore problems cheers For the advice
Jhandy
if you need a gasket, just make one out of a cereal box, no harm can be done then
StuDoc 72
if you need a gasket, just make one out of a cereal box, no harm can be done then This^ Far better than using sealant. It should defo seal though mate. Mine sealed even without a gasket. Maybe leaking from 1 of your pipe joints.
StarletSr?
Yea I used a gasket paper just to be on the safe side I understand what your saying about the bolts to I went and brought longer ones for mine still not happy with it.
Lawless
Ill make a gasket and change bolts can't seem to see any splits or damage on the pipes and only been doing this since I tried to adjust the flange fitted this kit Sunday and been pudding about with it since just want my BOOST back
StuDoc 72
What did you fit on sunday? an FMIC? It could be leaking from any of the joins on the pipes if they arent all every tight. What flange and why did you try and adjust it?
Lawless
I say flange I mean where the hot pipe joins the turbo I fitted the fimic and mines ecu but that wouldn't have anything to with a boost leak After I initially fitted it I found it was under boosting and that there wasn't a decent amount of thread in the nuts was literally only grabbing the top so I took the hot pipe off made sure it was lined up ect and put it all back on since then it's making a whistling noise and boosting even less
StuDoc 72
Cool well defo put the hot pipe on with better bolts but I've never found it very hard to seal. Then make sure all your piping clamps are nice and tight.
