Max9650 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Hi im on the lookout for a EP82 in good condition, and with good mods (hint hint ) A mate of mine knew of a guy selling one, its got 160k on the clocks and a jam ecu, Coils etc, Only problem is, Its running around 1.2/1.3 bar on stock internals, Possibly spiking to 1.4bar as it has no EBC ( on a ported ct9) I've been told it's not been running that high boost for too long but i'm just wondering should i walk away? Or should just do a compression test, and if its all good, then not worry about it too much? and get that boost turned down asap? Thanks all. Quote
Jim* Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 That is high for a ct9 it would be blowing hot air at that pressure, I'd be careful mate, do a compression test for peace of mind! Quote
Spoon_tuned Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 way to high as jim says compression test first as jim knows from experience with his doesn't end well Quote
Max9650 Posted June 25, 2013 Author Posted June 25, 2013 (edited) Cheers yep i definitely will get a compression test done on it, im just concerned because of it running too high boost is it likely to encounter problems because of that in the future Edited June 25, 2013 by Max9650 Quote
Jhandy Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Running more than a bar on stock internals will always bring you problems Quote
Jhandy Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Possibly bud. It could've done damage. That won't show straight away. Which usually happens in most casses Quote
Max9650 Posted June 25, 2013 Author Posted June 25, 2013 Yeah your right it prob has weakened the internals, cheers - just need to find a decent ep82 daaaammmnnn! Thankyou all for your replys Quote
Jhandy Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 If I hadn't just out a deposit down on a turbo kit. I might have sold mine. Only just got it though Quote
The Toffinator Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 If it runs fine there will be nothing wrong with it as long as its been looked after! 1.2 bar CT9 isnt a lot of pressure... buy it if its clean! Quote
