Any advice for separating shocks from the top mount?

Went to fit my new top mount tonight had the shock & spring out of the car, went to undo the nut which hold the top mount on, but the fecker is seized solid.

Soaked it in WD40, but still no luck. Only process for tonight is some bust knuckles.

Total ballache for something that should be a 30min job.

Air gun job mate is its stock shocks I'd be putting spring clamps on there as they can be nasty if not compressed or I'd have cracked it off before you took it off the car

I had spring compressors it on pal, I tried putting it back in and having a go as well bu still no luck.

Do you reckon a Snap-On electric torque wench would do?

Yeah mate should do I used an air gun took if off first go

I'll give it a go with one tomorrow, hopefully it will go a a bit smoother than tonight.

I tried it with a ratchet while the shock was still attached to the car, but the whole spring slipped out of place.

use a heat gun should help free it up alot.. worked a treat for me mate

Fecking nightmare that was, 40mins with two of us trying to get the bugger loosened, 4 secs with an impact wrench.
