Jade555 Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Bought my Glanza s a year ago, was burning 1 litre a month but has gradually got worse and now seems to be burning over a litre a week, has anyone else had issues with this or knows what it could be?ThanksJade x Quote
daniel_g Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Possibly rings ?? Ohh and if youre selling it let me know please Quote
Jade555 Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 Going to look over her tomorrow. Just frustrating not knowing what it is. Will do probs not selling til next year right enough! Quote
daniel_g Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Hope you get it sorted then If its not leaking the oil, then the engine is burning it. And since its a N/a it is most likely rings or stem seals. Quote
Jade555 Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 Yeah thought it would most likely be the stem seals. See what tomorrow brings! Cheers Quote
Jade555 Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 Theres been quite abit more than usual, white smoke Quote
TurboTobz Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Got a blue tinge? Certainly sounds like rings, maybe time for a transplant or rebuild Quote
Jade555 Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 Not particularly, it just seems like white smoke, I haven't been able to get a proper look though. Also lost power one day last week on the motorway but it's been running fine up to and after that. Judging by that there's something not quite right engine wise Quote
Jade555 Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 When I say running fine I mean minus the ridiculous amount of oil I'm going through just now...everything else seems to be ok Quote
TurboTobz Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Well, burning oil (oil making it into the cylinders) will produces smoke, whitey/grey/bluey quiet hard to see the exact colour from your mirror of course. Losing power could be compression loss, due to rings, if it is rings it's not a massive job just to buy another engine and chuck it in, it's easier and cheaper than rebuild too Quote
td04 glanza Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Spoke to a guy this morning that I know is very clued up on anything mechanical and he advised me to take a look at the breather system from the crank? Obviously if this is blocked then the weak link would be to force oil up through the rings? Quote
td04 glanza Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Just took the ht leads out and cylinder 2 and 4 have a fair bit of oil in the spark plug chambers?? Quote
