SmurfyBhoy Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Whats involved in wiring these in what are they and are they any good ??? Quote
russ78 Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 not sure what ud need an AFC for but if you decide to sell it give me a pm as I have a N/A that will suit this as for the boost controller its pretty straight forward as long as you have the solenoid and all the wiring Quote
SmurfyBhoy Posted July 24, 2013 Author Posted July 24, 2013 Yea got all wiring and solenoid. The afc is because i hav stock ecu. Quote
russ78 Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 but a afc adjusts the amount of fuel by adjusting maf signal to the ecu this wont stop fuel cut as far as I know bud could be wrong Quote
akyakapotter Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 i have that boost controller its an awesome bit of kit easy to wire in to mate Quote
SmurfyBhoy Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 I have an hks fcd as well. Is the any guides to wire them in and setting them up ??? Quote
russ78 Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 ^^ RRFPR and a fcd as said I don't know what you got that afc for ? the fcd removes fuel cut rrfpr adjusts fuel pressure to raise your boost via your EBC as for installing your boost controller the basics are in this guide http://www.trak-life.com/diy-installing-a-blitz-electronic-boost-controller/ Its not for a starlet but you get the idea tee off your boost gauge for a vaccum source for the back of your EBC Quote
SmurfyBhoy Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 I got them all off the same guy Im not sure wotexactly the apexi thing does then ? I got tht and a turbo kit off him Quote
russ78 Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 this should help you understand the solenoid end setuphttp://s1066.photobucket.com/user/russyb/media/truboost_zpsebdf9224.jpg.html'> Quote
russ78 Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 I got them all off the same guy Im not sure wotexactly the apexi thing does then ? I got tht and a turbo kit off him as I said it adjusts the air/fuel mixture by adjusting the maf signal to suit, it can be used on a starlet as cheap simple management but using a mechanical alternative like the FSE Fuel Pressure Regulator you already have works all the same imo I wouldn't use either id save and buy a plug & play ecu or piggyback ecu........................... but I have used the above method with no issues before Quote
SmurfyBhoy Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 Is it something i could set up myself or do u need a rolling road ?? Yhanks Quote
russ78 Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 you can set it up with either methods yourself but you would need to buy a wideband to get it right or book half an hour at a tuner so he can set it up Quote
SmurfyBhoy Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 Tried to wire this apexi neo using instructions off web dunno wer the wires go !!! Quote
russ78 Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Not quite sure why you posted up those Photos buddy im guessing thats the afr wiring loom and the other is your ecu ? Quote
SmurfyBhoy Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 Yea they guy before me just unplugged it so im guessin all 6 of those wires should plug into the ecu. But online diagram says u only use 3 ?? Quote
triple j Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Your best staying away from wireing that neo if u dont no what you are at, all the neo will do for u is trim fuel. Quote
SmurfyBhoy Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 The only thing i dont understand is why thers 6 ends but only 3 holes to put them in Quote
triple j Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 The only thing i dont understand is why thers 6 ends but only 3 holes to put them in it dont plug in it has to be spliced in to the ecu, the pim wire on the ecu side will be cut and and the neo will be joined inbetween them. Quote
SmurfyBhoy Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 Yea but wot im saying is ther are 6 wires with ends on them. Ther are more but ther tucked away and taped. ive looked and ther for vtec etc. but on apexi website it says it only uses 3 wires from the bak of the ecu. Its just confusing because id hav expected ther only to be 3 wires with ends on them. Quote
SmurfyBhoy Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 http://www.apexi-usa.com/manuals/electronics/neo_diagram.pdf Thats the pictures i have obv the ones tht correspond to manual ep91 4fte Quote
triple j Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 RED - powerBLACK/BROWN - GroundGREEN - RPM signalYELLOW - Airflow OutputWHITE - Airflow InputBLUE - Throttle Positionthats for the apexi safc am thinking wire colours are the same, the starlet does not use throttle position, u can wire it if i want. SmurfyBhoy Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 Ryt so i dont use the gray wire with the end on it ??? Cheers Quote
