Civic Radiator cap

my car keeps filling the over flow bottle for the radiator. i'm using a cj performance civic rad and low temp thermostat.. i was told the rad cap wasn't good enough to hold the pressure thats why shes filling the bottle..

just wondering what cap you guys use? does a trd one fit a civic rad or do i needa get the likes of a mugen one?

any help would be great guys? shes not over heating or anything.

Hi Monty,

I was using an HKS one on my civic rad and I found it created too much pressure and was filling the overflow bottle, so i resorted back to the standard one that comes with it and that fixed it straight away.

The one on mine is a 1.1 wat you using phil? Just find it strange that shes doin this an not over heating?

standard 1.1 cap on mine dude. the HKS one was higher, maybe 1.4+ not sure.

seems a bit odd that man.

i've a good heater inside so doubt its the water pump.. have ya still got the hks one? i'd buy it off ya to try?

if i still have it and if it fixes it ye can have it dude, tis no use to me.

I didnt realise there was different cap pressures available,whats the need for a higher pressure one ? Why are there different pressures available ?
