cturner93 Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Hi. Ive just bought a forged 5e engine and in the process of buying a td05 turbo. What do people think of this ie. Power produced, lag, boost pressures? All opinions please.Cheers Quote
AdamB Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Its a good combo, pretty much the same sort of combo as a 4e + td04. You'll probably make like 340-350bhp at 1.6 bar ish, depending if its the normal 16g unit. Quote
cturner93 Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Its the engine and turbo that idrees had mate. Thats not bad power really. Whats the lag like? Quote
AdamB Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Lag will be the same as 4e + td04 combo, 1 bar around the 3300ish mark depending on compression ratio and map. Isn't that td05 a hybrid? I thought it was but may have been reading something else haha. Quote
cturner93 Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 Yea it is mate. So if i run 1 bar it should be in the region of 330bhp? Quote
cturner93 Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 Oh sorry ive just read that properly lol what power do you recon i will get at 1 bar? Quote
AdamB Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 1 bar will probably be around 250ish, td05 doesn't really start coming awake till 1.4 bar + though. Quote
cturner93 Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 I was looking to run 1 bar safe til thoroughly ran in cheers for ya help Quote
RobSR Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Dont run 1bar to run it in lol. No boost for the first couple of miles, but lots of revs. Then start introducing a little bit of boost so the bores dont glaze over. Quote
cturner93 Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 Oh am not mate im gonna run it at .5 or something like that on the ct9 turbo before i strap the big boy o ;) Quote
The Toffinator Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 A bar will be fine after the first oil change, if somethings going to go wrong it will do it regardless of boost. Drive it 70 80 % of what you would normally do! Quote
RobSR Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 ^...apart from the fuelling will be screwed. Quote
cturner93 Posted November 1, 2013 Author Posted November 1, 2013 I plan on driving like a minge for 600 mile then take it to td to map it with td05 onit Quote
The Toffinator Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 As long as the fuelling is okay i would drive it hard straight away. Bollocks to this pussyfooting about lol Quote
goldenvtr Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 ive ran a 5e td05 16g for over 5 years, before that i went through a td04 and 2 vf28's which was FAR better for a fast road car but as i track mine ive since gone td05-20g. Quote

Is a td05 not only capable of 290ish? Before the turbo starts stressing? Quote
jayc-glanza17 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 td05-16g from an impreza can flow upto 320-340 on a 4e, but all down to a decent ECU and a good map.at 1.5bar on a td05 you should with a okish tune see from 290 to 300bhp area..but td05s can run 1.7 if you want a power figure, and then ran a little less boost on road for turbo reliability.1.5 is good boost for a td05, 1.2bar is minimum it likes otherwise you may as well go smaller turbo.. l Quote
Azz Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Emanage ultimate, td05-18g 311bhp@1.5bar Was rather laggy though, I did a fith gear pull from 30 against my mate's vxr over a mile and he nailed me simply because of lag BUT when it kicks in Oushh it was good.Needless to say I'm a lag whore Quote

turboloon Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 the size of the compressor housing's..;) Quote
Azz Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 As above mate, the 18g is slightly larger hence more power and more lag Quote
