Picked up the donor EP82 from the docks...

Dave mate, there are several jap spec EP's bored to 1.4 ltr...so unless they're just saying that for fun, I think it's highly likely that it's true. Who's to say they just bored it out? More than one way to skin a cat, the forgies are oversized though :lol:

How's that pipework coming on those AutoBahn intercoolers? still 90 deg bends? :lol:

Well with my limited knowledge...I'd say that potentially apart from a bore out, it may have been subjected to a light 'stroking' even with stock crank and rods, the pistons could have a shorter compression height.

But what do I know, I only build engines every now and then :lol:

Truth be told, without opening the engine up, we don't know how it's been built up...as long as it works!

Also worth mentioning...that compared to the Japs we know shit about tuning. I once imported an MR2 turbo running over 600ps on stock pistons, nobody in this country had managed that but it ran like a demon and soaked up whatever we threw at it. Just because you can't do it Dave, doesn't mean it can't be done....

I realise that, there's no need to be so defensive. I say open it up and see what is has!

I was once told by a customer he had a jap 5e 1.6, turned out to be .5 overbored lol

I'm kind of with you on the 'open her up and see what she's got' option...only thing is, I'm hoping 'if it aint broke, don't fix it' lol.

We'll see how it pans out, got to rip the engine out starting this weekend, then dump it in the track shell and vice versa...joy!
