Buying Advice Required

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I am looking to buy a starlet turbo for a weekend car.

I don't want a heavily modified one that had been ragged its whole life, I much prefer the factory look, maybe a few subtle mods and a few performance modifications.

I would appreciate any guidance on what to look for in the way of potential costly issues, where best to look for one, and how much realistically I would need to spend (i'm thinking in the region of 2k).

Also, would I be correct in thinking the depreciation is minimal due to age and nature of the car?

Thanks in advance for your comments,

Greg :)

Glanza or GT? It's real rare to find one that's not been royally thrashed by some twat...

Depreciation is really not an issue what so ever as long as you keep it in good condition.

Normal things, engine knocking, head gasket, bodywork, signs of accident damage, rust (they don't really suffer), gearbox (synchro's are common), clutch, rattles and bangs… Best to post car and spec up here we can tell you if we know it, and our opinions.

£2k for a fairly stock car is pretty rare, but if your patient you'll find one.
