Hello all, i'd thought i'd put my query in this section as it was originally in the General section but didn't have much response.

I've now been driving my Glanza for about 2 weeks and its mainly been too work and back so its during the peak time. When i get the chance too i do kick the turbo in but its not that often. I've only ran it on Lo boost at moment. However i'm a bit concerned about the Turbo and i have a few queries.

* The 3 (green) lights on the rev meter, i presume tell you what psi your turbo is running. Sometimes the first light comes on at 2 revs, however the light goes off at 3 revs and its just all random??? I took it to 5 revs and the first 2 lights came on. When does the third light come on, Is this normal?

* When does the turbo actually kick in interms of how many revs should i be hitting for each of the 3 lights.

* Is there any difference to when driving in Hi boost in relation to the lights coming on the rev metre?

I've tried to do a bit of research on this by looking at Glanza rev and speed metres on Youtube. I find some of them are similar to mine whereas others will have their turbo lights on all the way as soon as they go over 3 revs.

Any views of information would be very much appreciated.

I find it depends how you put your foot down.

If I put it down quickly I can get all 3 lights 3k, whereas if you rev the engine slower to say 5k (if that makes sense) I can make none of the lights come on)

Mines permanently on Hi boost so can't comment on Lo boost.

I heard that if you're in Lo boost then only 2 of the lights will come on anyway. I'm sure someone will confirm / correct me.

Hope that helps.

this might help you abit, the glanza is restricted to low boost int the first two gears so you should only expect the first two lights to come on,*even when you are in high boost.

in low boost the therd light will only come on at high speed.

there is a cheap and easy mod that will bypass this low boost restriction meaning that you can get full boost in the first two gears, it totaly transforms the way the car drives.

hi low boost mod

this will not do any damage to your engine, the low boost issues was mainly for the domesticmarket where snow is a problem so you dont really need it as it wont save fual. just drive in hi witha light right foot.

how comes your only running in low boost anyways ya big pussy, cant you handle the turbo power :)

if you have any more questions just ask

Hi mate

thanks for the info v much appreciated

I ran in Lo as i just been taking it work and back, its busy as i drive during peak times and plsu i go past quite a few cameras and a couple of police stations.

I dont know if this is true but i've heard ifyou drive the car is in Hi boost it is more economical on fuel than Lo Boost as the engine isn't working as hard???

In terms of bypassing the boost restriction, how long will this job take to do, will i need to buy any parts and would a lot of garages be able to do it, or will i need to take it a specialised garage. It sounds good but my insurance company may not be happy about it as its insured as standard Glanza performance (133bhp).

Many thanks

its a myth, just drive with a light right foot to save on fual

fool boost is the ful 133 but that sholdent matter anyways

in regards to the high low boost mod its totaly free,

you just swap to vacume hoses about to bypass the low boost solenoid until they look like the pic in the tutorial link

you dont have to tell insureres on anything bud trust me, its a simple and easy mod that i recomend you do as soon as you get to the car

=note=

you might need some pliers to get the hose connectors off but i just wresteld mine off by hand

infact heres a better pic to dumb it down abit

Many thanks mate

the pic is a great help

i'm going to go and have a look at it today and see it i can swap them around, i think i should just keep that hose.

Will it tighten on ok or will i need tools as i dont want it coming off whilst i'm driving. What colour will they be on a standard Glanza as i dont remember seeing any orange coloured hoses.

However when you take that throw away hose away there will be a gap there?

Many thanks

I've just given this a go but the hoses wont come off, i guess i might need some pliers. Does this just make a difference to how the car drives in Hi Boost or both Lo and Hi Boost.

I'm a bit confused as my car kicks in the boost in second gear on Lo Boost anyway.

Thanks

By changing those hoses you will be disabling Lo boost.

Pressing the Lo boost button will do nothing except turn the Lo boost light on.

What will be the actaul difference in terms of running Hi Boost in 1st and 2nd and Hi Boost in 1st and 2nd gear de-restricted. How will i know the difference? what are the signs if its defo worked?

More boost!

My car has always been de-restricted, but I test drove one with the restriction in place and there is a big difference.

its like driving a different car, it bypasses the shitty boost restriction in both gears

I know it may be a bit of a stupid question, but what is the 1st and 2nd gear boost restricted to and what does this change to after the 1st and 2nd gears are de-restricted.

Thanks

  • 1 year later...

Hi guys, Just a question, when ever i have bypassed the Hi/Lo boost i have got the engine light come on, showing that im running lean.. which worries me slightly so i have always had to put it back... i dont think this is normal and I've only got full exhaust and air filter...

any help on this?

Cheers

Sam

whats your current mods list bro, if you have a freye flowing exhaust, front mount and mods like that they naturaly push the boost up from standard anyways,

eather return back to standard, invest in a boost gauge or by an actuater to bring the boost back down bro

Hello mate,

my mods only consist of powerflow full system and blitz air filter and thats it, so major boost increase their really..? but im changing my turbo soon, as mine is on its last legs. Another question, does the ep82 turbo fit the glanza ? because i can get hold of ep82 turbo 50k miles on it, seems ok no cracks/smoke/ or shaft play would this be a good idea?

Cheers guys

they fit...but 82 ones are not as good...the glanza's ct9 has an extra blade on the exhaust wheel to provide a little more push for the extra weight it is lugging around....the 82 one will fit, but not the best option....

you may aswell look going hybrid as you can get some cheap now from tong turbo's, and they seem to make very good results...pm enzo about them :)
