Ollieh17
Turns out I have stripped the thread where the manifold stud screws into So have a few questions: >What metal is this part of the engine? >Best solution, tap to a bigger bolt or helicoil? >I have also seen some Loctite thread locker, and reviews are great. Anyone tried this stuff and found it good? Supposedly can repair stripped threads holding to the bolt up to 128lbft
AdamB
The head is aluminum so very soft. Best thing to do would be to look to see how readily available the next size up stud would be. Either way will work though.
turbo Grant
Put a helicoil in. Probs be stronger than factory
Ollieh17
i am a bit cautious about going to the next bolt up tbh. Helicoil sounds less daunting to someone with little experience
turbo Grant
Helicoils are really easy to fit. Can get a bit for about £12 on eBay. Think the thread is m10x1.25 off the top of my head
Ollieh17
Going to tap up to a m12x1.75 will a 10mm be sufficent for this?
turbo Grant
You can't use a 10mm stud in an m12 hole.
Ollieh17
I meant a 10mm drill bit to open up the hole. All sorted now and cars running sweet!!
