hey people.

im looking to get my car de catted,but i have heard some people say that when you do this you may need to have the car re mapped.dont know if this is right and wondered if anyone new for definate.

if i will need it re mapped do you think it is worth while de-catting for the power increase i will get?

Assuming you're driving a GT or Glanza you shouldn't need to get your car remapped. The standard ECU should be able to adjust itself enough to compensate for the increased flow.

You may however start to hit fuel cut if you're coupling the decat with an aftermarket exhaust. To get around this you'll need and FCD (Fuel Cut Defencer) - Or what you may have been hearing; a remapped ECU chip

ive read but want confirmation that decats are allowed in the uk on GT's and they cant fail an M.O.T with a decat on GT. can somone confirm?

all cars made after 1992 have to have a cat in britain.....its the law, if a car was made before that time it can have a de cat made. its all to do with the emittions test in the m.o.t ;)

but apparently where they dont need one in japan or something like that they dont need one here as it isnt registered as a uk vehicle

Wrong!

M.O.T's have all gone over to a computerised system now and they dont have any info on the imported cars,so as default it comes up as a non cat test!

It will pass if you have a decat or not ;)

nice one lads.

i think i will start to get a few prices together.dont think it will cost too much though.

can any one tell me if i can expect any noticable performance increase?

have been told you can get between 5-10 bhp.

have got a standard system at the mo but have got the blitz n.you.r back box.

think if i do get it done will get the full system while i am there.

Yeah spool up is much much quicker,with the full system i found that it has taken away alot of the lag. Its proven you can gain upto 16 bhp with a full system and decat ;)
