Yo,

Passenger side outer CV joint has unfortunately began clicking.

I have contacted Toyota but they've messed me around and they have now came to the conclusion that it's out of stock and discontinued.

However, I've found this: http://www.adl.co.nz/Catalogue/TOYOT...VJOINTSAN_188/

But under the description of that it says it's for EP71 ( I know EP71 were 4WD too )

I've checked toyodiy.com and EP71 and EP85 both share the first five digits of the part number;

EP71:

43470 SHAFT ASSY, FRONT DRIVE OUTBOARD JOINT, LH
43470-19075 (01/1985 - 03/1985) 1 $523.31
43470-19085 (10/1984 - 12/1984) 1 $534.70

EP85:

43470 SHAFT ASSY, FRONT DRIVE OUTBOARD JOINT, LH
43470-19476 1 $451.28
43470-19486 アリ(ABS) 1 $460.65

Will this EP71 joint fit my 85? What do the last 5 digits refer to? Is it size/spline count etc...

Help is greatly appreciated guys.

Cheers. Shaun

It must be the time or old age, but just remembered it was the boots I changed. Did use adl boots though so good chance that is the right part.

Cheers for the replies.

Even though the cross referencing appears to be the same, the link leads to this and they are one digit off? Strange.

EP82 -

43470 SHAFT ASSY, FRONT DRIVE OUTBOARD JOINT, LH

43470-19475 1 $527.15

43470-19485 アリ(ABS) 1 $527.15

EP85 -

43470 SHAFT ASSY, FRONT DRIVE OUTBOARD JOINT, LH

43470-19476 1 $451.28

43470-19486 アリ(ABS) 1 $460.65

Really not too sure tbh, browner might be worth an ask as hes had a fair few bits apart. Weejohn is great with 4wd's tok but best to pm him on tgtt as he does'nt come on here much. Please update your findings though as this info is good to have on the forum.

Yeah, I'll give browner a shout!

"12/1989 TOYOTA STARLET (EP82-AGMQY)"

43470-19475 - outer cv joint

"1995 TOYOTA STARLET (EP85-AGMSK)"

43470-19476 - outer cv joint

BUT the "1995 TOYOTA STARLET (EP82-AGMQY)" product code is completely different; (also shares the same code as a 1999 EP91)

43470-19765 - outer cv joint

The 1989 mk1 EP82 has the same code as the 1995 EP85 but there's one number difference so I'm unsure of the physical difference - if any? As for the complete change in product number I'm assuming this is because of the spline count changes?

Couldn't find out anymore then you have already mate. I think the thing to do, would be get one off a Sera or ep82 (maybe Conor could help) for cheap and compare it to the ep85 one.

If it was me I would just take the cv joint off and count the splines on it. And see if it's the same as a turbo model as there is a choise of 2 I think. Save getting confused with all the part numbers lol

Just thought about that as well. There's a 23/30 and a 23/23 i think.

Is it only later ep82's and 91's that have 23/30? Just a thought

I've ordered both 23/23 and 23/30 from camskill anyway and they're happy with me returning one/both if I don't require them. Top lads!

85 '94 shaft got different boot kits, so everything is different. ordered today and i can tell ya, get an extra monthly payment haha

I thought only the inner boot kits were different, Enzo told me that outer cv joints and boots were the same as GT's. My current boot isn't split and it's in good condition so could either fit that or stretch an inner GT boot for a good seal? Where did you order from mate?

Enzo is correct, inner boots are different. Did all mine not to long ago.

Changed both outer CV joints (23/23) and inner boots, and for future reference for anyone - they are both identical to ep82. :)
