Manny01 Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Just fitted a new turbo but still the same? Any help would be much appreciated. Quote
1990timeismoney Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Wat colour smoke could just be burning oil if your old turbo seals went and oil in in exhaust Quote
Manny01 Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 The smoke is white and smells oily! The turbo I took off was a ct12, put a ct9 standard turbo back on. Starlet ep82. It's exactly the same and only smokes after boosting. If you don't use any boost you would never know. More boost, more smoke. Thanks for any help. Quote
1990timeismoney Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Was the turbo a reconditioned unit and no shaft play etc I'm not 100% sure on smoke colour but could be the turbo seals I though if it was stem seals it may smoke all the time Quote
Manny01 Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 Hi, brand new toyota turbo. Just went out and pulled the pcv valve off, no smoke! And goes like stink! Thanks for your help. Quote
TD04HYBRID Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 did you prime the turbo before starting the car? Quote
Manny01 Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 Yeah, i pulled the pcv valve off the inlet and it's fine now. Goes like stink. What boost should a standard ep82 run? It's showing just under 0.8 now. Quote
5T4R7ET N/A Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 The pcv valve is overlooked many times, best thing is to get rid and have a catch can setup without it. Quote
turbominicooper Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 white = moisture headgasket poss? or just simple condensation in exhaust Quote
