sdutton007
Hi, I've removed the stock rubber out of the rear engine mount on my EP85 (with a knife, hacksaw, chisel and a big hammer lol) to replace it with a polyurethane one but the poly mount I have for the EP82 is slightly too small to fit... Can anybody tell me what poly mount will fit, or am I better off just fabricating one myself like this: http://www.mgmetrocup.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=265.0 ? Cheers Edited August 30, 2014 by sdutton007
DevonGT
When you take out the rubber mount, there's a metal ring you need to keep in place.
sdutton007
Are you sure? The mount I have was too large with the ring in place. And the ring is now completely fucked...
DevonGT
but the poly mount I have for the EP82 is slightly too small to fit Do you still have the stock engine? As with a 4efte in place you need to keep the ring for the rear. the other two fit ok without it.
sdutton007
Why would the engine make any difference? Regardless, it will be a forged 4e once I finish doing the engine bay and drop the engine in lol Edited August 31, 2014 by sdutton007
DevonGT
Regardless that's what you need to do, my polybushes fit no problem like that.
morgey
You didnt get the polybush for an lsd box did you? Theyre a bit smaller iirc
sdutton007
I have the Powerflex PFF76-421 which, according to thr powerflex website is for the non-LSD box and 64mm. The same website says the LSD version is 74mm.http://www.powerflex.co.uk/road-series/products/Starlet-Glanza+Turbo+EP82+%26+EP91-2614/1.html
sdutton007
I've just measured the mount and it seems to be 66mm without the ring or 62mm with the ring.I assume I have the stock EP85 mount which is completely different to the EP82 one. I will get a pic up shortly...
morgey
Ahh i knew they were different just not just how different
sdutton007
Ive just fitted the poly mount in and there is only 1-2mm of play which is less than the ring.
daniel_g
I dont think the poly bushes were made for those mounts, ive had mine off and they are physically different to both types of 82 mounts.Maybe some really good tiger seal type shit would hold it in properly ? morgey
Pop to a machinist, See if you could get a ring cut and rolled or machined to fit to take up the slack. Thats what id do if i had it.
sdutton007
Thanks for the replies. I will have to consider my options:- Getting machinist to make a 1mm ring- Use tiger seal or similar to fill gap- Making my own poly mount- Find 66mm poly mount with same length
