ugglasdav Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 just abit of a worry here, my oil light seems to stay on for maybe 1-2 secs on cold start but on hot start goes out instantly, on previous cars i have had in the cold the oil light would go out straight away, should i be concerned? Car is driving fine otherwise PS, castrol GTX 10w40, genuine toyota oil filter Quote
GlanzaJ Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Might be down on oil pressure mate , i had an mg zr t16 that did that when i started it from cold , was due to a loose bolt on the oil pump Quote
AdamB Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Oil level is full I guess? Best bet is to get a pressure gauge on it asap before it does any damage. Quote
FMuscle Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Mine does it since I poured thick conditioner in there to slow a rear main leak. I'm not concerned about it, I'm swapping soon Quote
Flaminsam Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Mine is the same. 1-2 seconds when first fired up in the morning. Im not worried. The oil has to be picked up from the sump, through the gauze, pick up pipe, into the oil pump, through the filter, pressurise the main bearings and the oil drilling before it turns the light off. To do all of that in 1-2 seconds is pretty good. The reason that it doesn't take that long when warm is because the oil hasn't had enough time to drain back through the oil pump. Quote
Ollieh17 Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Mine flashes constantly, stays on at time. Gauge is fine though so ignore it Quote
