I know it's a long shot but does anyone have one laying around they don't use? And want to sell it to me for a good price, obviously need it to get a accurate measurement on the crank journals so I know what size oem bearings I need from toyota, I know there's lots on line but they are pricey so just seing if anyone has a cheap one going needs to be the 0.001 25-50mm ones

Thanks Pat

You sure it needs to be 0.001 not 0.01mm

1 thousands of a mm is rediculously accurate even for an engine. If it were an imperial micrometer then 0.001 is fine but thats about 0.025mm in metric terms

Fair enough i stand corrected. I only have anolog mics at work most of which only go down to 0.01 but you can read inbetween with them a bit (inaccurately) and 1 or 2 have 0.001 divisions but not very many.

^^^^ i said that morgey :) it has too be 0.000 otherwise you might aswel be building lego blocks

this gives you an idea of how fine tolerances are 5 sizes of bearings are in the " thent " mark so the thousand measurement tels us wich 1 of the 5 to pic

STD mark 1 = 1.995-1.999mm

STD mark 2 = 1.999-2.003mm

STD mark 3 = 2.003-2.007mm

STD mark 4 = 2.007-2.011mm

STD mark 5 = 2.011-2.015mm

It's surprised me alright mate thanks to Colin I have learned a lot about all this, it's a good thing to know as I wonder how many people actually know stuff like this on here when building an engine
