PaddyDoyle Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Up and down (1st to 2nd, 3rd to 4th etc.) gear linkage all of a sudden got really stiff. Side to side is grand. Is it beat or can i pull it off and grease it up? Quote
Ryan_EP82 GT Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Its probably the selector bushes where the cables mount onto gearbox. The rubber ones get cracked and hard to select, there's uprated bushings for like 15/20 quid on ebay will help. Quote
white-gt Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Sorry to hijack but could these bushes cause crunching into down gears ? Ie 2nd , 4th and reverse ? Quote
Ryan_EP82 GT Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 No thats synchro issues buddy common problem on these. gearbox probably ndeds a rebuild. Check box oil level first though Quote
PaddyDoyle Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 Cable was frayed inside the tube eventually snapped. Quote
Ryan_EP82 GT Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 That also happened me. I did 75 mile in 3nd and 4th fs lol Quote
JayJ Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Was it hard to select too when engine wasn't running? I have currently quite big problems to get the 3rd in and sometimes it crunches even on idle. Also the cable end felt saggy when compared to the other one. Quote
PaddyDoyle Posted July 11, 2015 Author Posted July 11, 2015 Just felt like a lot of resistance going vertically. (1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th+ but side to side was silky smooth If your cable was wanked youd have problems in all gears not just 3rd sounds like a syncro. Fairly common fault. Quote
