Tommyk Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Hi guys I recently forged my engine and it's started smoking badly. It mainly only does it when been stood idling and then I rev it and poors loads of blue smoke out then after a few revs it pretty much clears. Any ideas guys? I was wondering if maybe a stem seal has popped of or something? Quote
maddox710 Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Sounds like stem seals or turbo oil seal Quote
Tommyk Posted January 1, 2015 Author Posted January 1, 2015 Yh that's what I was thinking cheers mate Quote
mikey4410 Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Turbo mate.90% sure. Had all that recently. Quote
_shaun_ Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Likly turbo oil seals seeping oil when your siting at idle its pooling in the exhaust and when the revs rise its enough to burn it. Quote
Tommyk Posted January 2, 2015 Author Posted January 2, 2015 I also only built engine 1400 miles ago and is spitting abit of oil out my rocker cover breather filter and can see steam come from it Quote
mikey4410 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 ouch.the oil outa breather is REAL bad news mate. thats not good. Quote
Tommyk Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 really don't know what to do anymore Quote
mikey4410 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 well u need to do a compression check and see what results are next !!!!! Quote
onnaj1000 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Had the same on my Volvo 850 t5, have a video on YouTube of it somewhere. Will look for it!But the cause was a worn turbo. After replacing it it was gone!Turned out I might had a too small exhaust or a bump in it Quote
Tommyk Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 Ok guys cheers. Mikey what should compression readings be roughly for forge engine Quote
mikey4410 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 shud be 160-170 on a normal standard turbo lumpso bearing in mind most forged pistons are lower comp I wud say around 150-160.most importantly there should be a varient of no more than 14psi Quote
