Arnold Posted January 8, 2015 Share Posted January 8, 2015 The first thing to check is what anti virus program you have. If you're using anything Norton/Symantec or Mcafee related, then bin it for something more lightweight. Windows XP/Vista/7 you can use Microsoft Security Essentials, and Windows 8 has Windows Defender built in. Download a program called Hijackthis and run it (as an Administrator), and export the log file. Paste it onto here if you want and i'll tell you what you can remove. This makes a massive difference. Slow performance can also be caused my Malware. Use Malware Bytes to give your system a scan, and remove anything it finds. Also if you're using Windows XP/Vista, you can defrag the hard drive.
