kevmcc90 Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 When car is running engine is making a ticking noise but what I noticed today is that when you turn lights to on it stops? Any ideas? Quote
aaddzz123 Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Unplug the idle control valve. It probably stops when you turn the lights on as the revs die a little. It's a common problem for them to break apart inside and it causes the clicking Quote

kevmcc90 Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 Got my mate to do it and the ticking stops when disconnected Quote
Socks Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Icv is goosed. We keep them in stock if you require a replacement. ;) Quote
tommyep82 Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Icv is supposed to tick man.if your not having idling issues No need to replace Quote
kevmcc90 Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 Cool mate didn't know if it was an issue or not? Quote
aaddzz123 Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 They're not supposed to tick lol . A lot of them do, but they're not supposed to. A ticking control valve doesn't affect the running of the engine, but replacing it for one that isn't falling apart inside will resolve the ticking issue . Quote
kevmcc90 Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 Cheers boys. Will cleaning mine help? Quote
aaddzz123 Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Cheers boys. Will cleaning mine help? Afraid not matey. There is a flimsy copper disc inside that breaks apart. I think this is what causes the ticking... Take it apart and have a look, you'll see what I mean. It's easy enough to take apart and put back together . Quote
kevmcc90 Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 OK will have a look when I get car back, can you get a new one or is it second hand ones? Quote
aaddzz123 Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 You probably can get a new one from toyota but you'd better be ready with your wallet out haha. I imagine they're expensive. We do sell them on jdm-ep.co.uk reasonably cheap and come with a return policy if you're not happy with it. Quote
