AdamB
First thing would be to check the battery voltage, and the alternator, makes sure its charging the battery.

J40k-mo
All charging and everything looks to be in place and all okay, no one had a similar problem?
FrozenJakalope
I'd be looking at the alternator. I've just had a look through a bunch of wiring diagrams and there's no common earth for the headlights, any one ABS sensor and the battery/alt. If the voltage regulator in your alternator's gone or going though, that could cause all manner of fucked-upedness with your electronics. You could always take it to National Tire or somewhere similar and have them test it, it's free and you can tell them to eff off if they try to sell you anything after you've got the result. FrozenJakalope
Not that I can see on the diagrams. Don't suppose you get a useful fault code reading, do you?
J40k-mo
Turns out it was the altenAtor over charging at 18 volts! When the battery light came on, hard one to find with the battery light only coming on now and again! But the altenAtor started smoking and could smell burning so deffo one to remember so you don't set car on fire! Haha
FrozenJakalope
Hahaha, yep, that's a pretty good indicator of a fault. Glad you pinned it down mate
