adamsmith89
Is there a way to test one off the engine? Basically the engine had only done 6k on a new built with a new pump etc but it melted 2 pistons and spun bearings due to running lean the oil pump was new but now I'm rebuilding im not sure if I should use this pump or not Opinions? JDMfreak
Only way to test an oil pump well how I did it was remove timing belt off engine remove filter and pour oil down in through oil filter housing and grabbed my air gun on a slow speed put it the oil pump bolt and spin it over clock wise should spit oil back up out.. I fitted a new oil pump but was testing it as also this is how to prime an oil pump when a new one is fitted so there's no oil starvation when starting it for the first time
Cherry
I always remove the king lead, turn the engine over a few times then plug back the the lead.... Primed and ready to go
Ollieh17
That doesn't always work, especially with a new pump
Cherry
Oil light will go out when it's primed to the correct pressure
