haggis Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Removed rad for fitting of decat today.Used a guide for manual radiator removal and the auto has transmission lines into radiator. I took them off and plugged them quickly so didn't loose much fluid but I'm paranoid that I may have got air in transmission. Will this ruin my autobox I've got another similar thread about half rads and moving auto transmission to a separate rad.Any help appreciated Shud of bought a manual lol Quote
haggis Posted April 11, 2016 Author Posted April 11, 2016 Bump as may have to do this again soon Quote
mart1 Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 (edited) How come you removed rad to fit a de cat ? With my old v auto it still had air con and didn't remove anything apart from old cat lol Edited April 11, 2016 by mart1 Quote
haggis Posted April 11, 2016 Author Posted April 11, 2016 Well I tried but couldnt get in about the bolts probably need to get some better tools ...You think manifold is doable without remOving rad? Quote
mart1 Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Yeah I think you would struggle to get the Mani off if rad still on. Quote
haggis Posted April 11, 2016 Author Posted April 11, 2016 Dam... just para about loosing transmission fluid Quote
StuDoc 72 Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 You can do it all without removing the rad. You shouldnt have removed it to do the decat. Take off the 6 mani bolts, then unbolt the decat from the exhaust then a few more little brackets and connections and the whole turbo kit will lift out, doesnt take long at all. As for your autobox it will have a bleeding system in place just top up the fluid. Quote
Ollieh17 Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 hell of a lott easier to take the rad off i always found Quote
adzy Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 For taking mani and all of def easier to take rad out, I tried to keep it in but gave up and was so much easier without it.As for decat, you don't need to remove it. I cut a spanner in half to get in easier and it worked a treat Quote
StuDoc 72 Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Depends on experience I suppose. Maybe it is better to take it out if your unsure. Quote
haggis Posted April 12, 2016 Author Posted April 12, 2016 Good shout on cutting a spanner I will try that .. also not sure what fluid to put in autobox a lot of different opinions Quote
