Charlie28
Anyone else have a problem doing this or is it just me? Never seem to be able to get them in easily, managed to f*** a brand new seal on my last attempt. Any tips?
5e colin
yes be gentle sticking the tip in dont touch the seal then a tap on the shaft with a rubber hammer or metal bar on inner cv joint tap
funny onion
yes be gentle sticking the tip in ^^^ LOL I always struggle to get the driveshafts back in the box. I have a short temper too which doesn't help. be gentle, try and line the splines up as best you can, make sure the circlip is centralised on the shaft (if that makes sense) then as above tap it in with a rubber mallet. Don't be tempted to bash it with a metal ahmmer as the end will mushroom and you won't get the nut on the end of the driveshaft.

I haven't removed the drive shafts from the hub, its just inserting them into the gearbox! Right pain! Will order a new seal and have another go at the weekend! funny onion
ah right that can make it a bit easier, i'm pretty crap when it comes to driveshafts haha took me ages to get the hang of knocking them out. got a 2 poster in the unit now though which makes things much easier! Ollieh17
I always find it easier to remove the shaft from the cup. Fit the cap in a similar way, flat bit of wood over the cup and tap it in. Then push the rest of thr shaft back in and do cv boot up.Ida thought it would be even harder with the shaft still in the hub
StuDoc 72
Put it in the hole turn the disc side to side while giving it a slight wiggle. You will feel it slightly locate into the splines. From there either push the hub towards the gearbox or get underneath and get both hands on the driveshaft and push it in. It should slide in pretty easy, if its not going in or damaging the seals. Your not doing it right. Its not something that is difficult its more just a case of being patient and precise, hope this helps.

Yeah I've had them in and out numerous times, just always seems to be a chore! Wondered if there was an easy way to do it, but seems its just patience! I'll give moving the disc back and forward a go! Cheers!
