turbominicooper
saw this on a Scooby forum, is this correct? "lt retains heat in the exhaust and hot gases move faster than cold ones therfore the exhuast can work more effectively. Also keeps heat out of the engine bay, reduces under bonnet temps which in turn reduces heat soak into other components, steering rack etc. Especially if you have an under bonet mounted air filter keeps intake temps lower too." is it worth doing downpipe and exhaust or are best results seen on mani? funny onion
In theory the above is true, maintaining a constant heat throughout the exhaust system allows the gases to escape more efficiently. If the exhaust gases cool they slow down which can give the effect of raised backpressure. Although you have to be careful, if you don't wrap the manifold or downpipe evenly you can create hotspots, which can lead to them cracking/failing and uneven heat distribution. A lot of manifold manufacturers (like wepr and i believe zisco) actuallu wvoid warranty on their kits if you wrap them. You're best bet is ceramic coating for manifold and downpipe. but it's expensive... In terms of power you won't see massive differences unless you're running big power and heat soak is a problem. I would do the downpipe and exhaust if i were you and leave the manifold. That's just me though, i'm sure others will swear by wrapping everything no doubt.
Gainzy
I don't think it's worth the hassle for what you gain if anything! As above ceramic coating would be a better option.
