Madge1980
Hi all, I am doing an auto to manual conversion. The gearbox I have used has come from a n/a starlet so I need to remove the driveshaft cup from the auto box and the one from the n/a box to swap them over, as they are different sizes. I have tried to remove the one from the auto box but just cant get it to come out. I have searched the forum but can't seem to find the answer. Is there a trick to it or just brute force? Thanks in advance for any info.
daniel_g
Brute force with a pry bar. Or put the box on a bench and wedge a thick chisel between the cup and the box casing, then hit the chisel downwards to release the cup
Starlet__SR
There will be little lips on the cup, use a sharp chisel and a swift blow. Any other way and you're gonna cause some damage.Day
Madge1980
Cheers for the replies guys much appreciated. I finally managed to get it out but I had to remove the bell housing. I knocked it out from the inside through the diff whilst 2 guys put pressure on with 2 pry bars. It was just tight on the bearing. I wasn't sure if it was held in by the C shaped spring clip the same as the o/s or something else. Just hope the other one comes out of the manual box or I shall have to remove the box again!
