stevie82
Ok so a bit of a story coming up, I work in an insurance approved body shop but mainly repair and restore race cars and porches. The owner and his son both race regularly so myself and a few others at work came up with the idea of chipping together to buy a car with a view to using it is a track car with our collective contributing financially and spending time on it with the end result of all the lads having a good thrash in it. Initially the plan was to buy a cheap Clio 172 that needed work but we needed funds so asked the boss if we could sell some spares we had, what a great team building idea he said, he let us have the spares to sell on the condition he could have a go ! Nothing really happened for a week or so until the boss then pulls up in this for usSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
stevie82
Never known of a boss buying his lads a track car to thrash before top bloke, it's got a couple of niggles that need sorting with the suspension and brakes but it goes pretty well Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
stevie82
Our plans are to bin the interior, decent brakes all round decent tyre and coilovers and change the exhaust as its way too loud and swap the rear lights for standard units then we just want to get it on track to give it a shakedown Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
stevie82
So far we've added a toyosports decat, a scorpion cat back, a new ally rad and pipes, got standard rear lights, stuck on a piper x and ripped out most of the interiorSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
stevie82
The boss let us have his old cobra club mans out of his lotus élan as he's upgraded to light weight carbon fibre seats. We've ordered some new avo gtx coilovers and replaced drop links, roll bar bushes and track rod ends, I'll get some more pics with the coils fitted when there on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

stevie82
Not updated this for a while, we finally got the car out at oulton park a few months back and had a great it went really well until we broke it 😬 well it is 🇫🇷 after all ! The sodding gear cables decided to give up so u couldn't find gears and the rear gearbox mount is shot. So other than that car is a good track toy, updates to follow soon as it needs fixing cause we wanna get out again 😀
stevie82
Bit of a thread revival, the 206 is now mine as no one at work could be arsed putting any money in to it so I bought it off my boss and have thrown a couple of grand at it. All the suspension and brakes have been rebuilt, vibra technics engine mounts a full Toyosports exhaust including decat and a ton of other stuff. Not been out in it yet but should be in the next month hopefully

Calum122
Hey looking smart. It's a shame no one else could be bothered, especially if your boss was onboard. But hey it's looking good in your hands
Bean
Sounds a cool place to work with a decent boss! the 206 looks tidy for a track car. ive not seen a gti180 for ages now.

Thanks man yeah it has its ups and downs but it is a pretty cool place to work, unfortunately there seems to be an epidemic of people breaking them at the moment which is sad, I know there not as good a car as a clio sport but u can pick them up for nothing these days so it’s an ideal affordable track car in my eyes
Bean
years ago a mate bought one of the lower power 206 gti's as it was cheap locally. we had a right laugh rallying it round back roads and gravel roads it got absolute death. It was good fun.

stevie82
Nor updated for a while, done 4 more track days in it since the new brakes went on with no problems so far 😀
Calum122
How's it been holding up?
stevie82
Really well plastic bracket that holds gear cables broke at the end of one of the days so cable tied it up to get home and the replacement part was cheap so it’s all good, had no other problems at all 👍
